Re: The Muppets

Actually, Elmo wasn't a wide-wide release, which made it hard for it to ever recoup its money back. It was essentially a token-ish limited release to basically promote the VHS and DVD that came out only two months later, although bizarrely too close to Christmas to make it a gift-seller. I will main...

Re: YouTube Goodness

With Micky Dolenz (hey, hey, he’s a Monkee!) and directed by Peyton Reed, who made a bunch of these before going on to Down With Love and, yes, the Ant Man trilogy…! Best bits from 50:55, especially 58:00! Can’t believe you didn’t know about this, one if the better Zaloom/Mayfield remake/reboot/sequ...

Re: The Muppets

It was 25 years ago, Dace! Does it really matter!? I just remember reading at the time that the Elmo movie was seen as something of an "anomaly" in the canon. Many questioned why the admittedly popular but still pretty niche character was being given a film release, which kind of got borne out by th...

Re: The Muppets

Yep, I remember reading the review in either Variety or THR, who said it got elevated from being a home release. It did get a theatrical release, though, true.

Re: The Muppets

Always forget about Abby. But those last two aren't exactly theatrical…just DTVs that got limited releases. This’ll be the first true theatrical-level film since Big Bird. We need a Blu for that!

Re: Official Star Wars Thread

Han dying was Ford's request and the only reason he’d come back at all, so it was always to be, the idea being that they’d reintro Luke and Leia and they would take the trilogy forward…but then they forgot to intro Luke, at least for any meaningful length of the film. :( If Luke had sensed Rey had a...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Liz Taylor as Leia! Boba Fett as, er, Boba Fett! ;)

Yes, I got caught in a rabbit hole of all these the other night. The BTTF ones are especially nightmarish. They really are all like "bad dream" versions. I can feel quite "uneasy" watching too much of this!

Re: DMC Exclusive Disney Blus

I know that feeling! ;) End of an era for sure. I never did get a chance to peruse the US version of DMC, as Rand always kindly let me see his account to look through. A bit crazy that you have to login to see their wares…you'd think having it "open" would entice more people to join up having seen t...

Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe

Ha! We just lost that from 'Flix here. Not being a slave to the comics as much, I adored NWH as just a great film and nostalgically fun and well-made movie experience. You get around ten minutes of new stuff, half of which seems deleted for a reason (a school chatshow bit with Betty Brant, which dra...

Re: Ghostbusters — OFFICIAL THREAD

Rick Moranis actually proposed a Ghostbusters show back during the promotion of GBII, which he suggested would be on "NBC, Thursdays at nine!"; when asked if he thought there would be a third film, he thought the future of it was in television and that they had been talking about doing a show. Obvio...
