Re: Is the future of animation hopeless?

I met Amid Amidi a few times when I was in ASIFA Hollywood, at various screenings, back when; he's definitely not as 'abrasive' in person as he often seems to be, online. I love Amid's animation history books (especially Cartoon Modern ) .. and I still have all the issues of his late-90s Animation B...

Re: DMC Exclusive Disney Blus

aw; thanks!

I'd never dare try to sell any of mine for 'real' money, though .. especially online, where every cent of any transaction could be easily traced by Disney lawyers. There's an awful lot of artists who don't mind living that dangerously, I suppose. :|

Re: Is the future of animation hopeless?

I think movies about Funko Pops and Peeps are insanely stupid ideas that are only going to be bad movies that will bomb horribly. .. and yet .. for every dozen or so movies of that type which 'bomb', we get a The Lego Movie or Angry Birds .. which manage to entertain at a level well beyond audience...

Re: Is the future of animation hopeless?

.. and, with respect: these 'fears' are not worth worrying over .. certainly not to the extent of preventing you from the pursuit of telling your own stories. :? As Dacey says, Disney isn't going anywhere. And they do cast a long shadow over the entertainment industry, particularly with regard to co...

Re: Is the future of animation hopeless?

DreamWorks' feature division may not be cranking-out films at quite the breathless pace they'd managed, throughout the 00's & 10's .. but their TV & streaming side has been going strong for several years, now. I don't think DW is going away, anytime soon. 8) Disney is a juggernaut, for sure .. but t...

PG-13 for language, in a couple places .. but still worth some chuckles.

Re: Blender or Maya for basic learning + use?

Ben has already said much of what I would've. :) I think the current version of Blender is a perfectly viable platform for learning the basics of CG animation. I've dabbled a bit in Blender in the past few months, and I'm very impressed with its capabilities. If you're looking for a job in the indu...

Re: Avengers and the MCU

I think I've said here before -- having worked on VFX & 'pre-vis' for multiple TV & film projects, from super-low budget DTVs to multimillion-dollar features -- it's a wonder to me that even a tenth of them turn out to be entertaining, at all. Every movie/TV production is a bewilderingly complex und...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19)

I'm coming-up on 24 hours since my second Pfizer shot. Same as Ben .. the only 'symptom' is a mild soreness in my left arm. I did sleep about an hour longer than I usually do .. but -- so far -- no illness/fever/aches, or anything. Gonna stay cooped-up through the end of this month, to give this the...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19)

My second dose is scheduled for Friday morning (May 7th). It's Pfizer .. since that happened to be the vaccine on offer, the day I went for my first shot. I barely felt any ill effects from that first dose (other than a slightly sore left arm) .. and I'm hoping the same may be the case for my second...

Re: No 6th season for Teen Titans?

Interesting .. this must be some sort of 'multiverse' crossover story, since the the DC SHG Robin has a completely different design/characterization (he's a supremely obnoxious jerk! ) .. and the other TT characters appeared as 'younger kid' versions of themselves in the DC SHG episode "#Tween...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

Meanwhile, at Warner Archive's Amazon store page .. they've sorted their available titles into the following categories: ► New to Warner Archive ► Top Sellers ► Drama ► Film Noir ► Horror ► Musicals ► Westerns It'd be nice if 'Comedies' and 'Animation' were added as categories .. perhaps 'Sci-Fi' or...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Although I was never fond of this type of video game, I've always admired this intro for Rock Band: The Beatles .. it works beautifully in this short form, but a 'feature-length' tribute project with this sort of stylization might've been (could be?) really cool. 8) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r...

Re: Bedrock: A Sequel to The Flintstones

I unabashedly love that sound effect .. and the "yabba dabba DOOzy!" that often followed.

It was like Pebbles' own version of Fred's "Bet? Bet! Bet-BET-bet!!!" tic from "The Gambler" .. except she'd often do it once or twice, per episode.

Re: Bedrock: A Sequel to The Flintstones

Fred already had that role, in The Pebbles & Bamm Bamm Show.

Speaking of which -- I'd love to see 'grown-up' versions of Wiggy, Penny, Moonrock & the gang in the new show .. even if they're just cameos. :)
