Re: Scooby-Doo! Theatrical animated movie just announced

Yeah, I’ll definitely wait for a non-deluxe standard set, like the Movie Scoob and Jonny cases. I don’t need the extra tat (and a box that will likely crush as with the whole Batman fiasco last year) What was the "fiasco"? I remember blogging about the "$800 Bookshelf" that one time Warner tried to...

Re: Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?

Here's an article that share's a few additional cameos not shown in the trailer. Probably one I most looking forward to is Steve Urkel. I'm a big fan of Family Matters so that will be nice nostalgia moment, and it will be interesting to see how close Jaleel can match his Steve after all these years...

Re: The Simpsons

Simps had so many great Disney jokes: “I’m an original creation, like Ricky Rouse or Monald Muck.” Al Jean was such a good writer then (like in The Critic, he was great at making up nonsense words.) Reportedly, The Simpsons tried to sell a Sim-ride (NPI) to Disney, back during the heyday, and...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

Warner Archive just sent me notice of a Lippy & Hardy MOD set , scheduled for release in July .. so, it appears the Wally Gator set (which starts shipping tomorrow!) will contain only the title character's segments. Hopefully, a Touché & Dum Dum set will be coming, soon after..! So, who's...

Re: Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?

Tom and Jerry met Beetlejuice? When did that happen? ...ANNNNN-y minute now. (Although rights from the earlier cartoon will probably be too tied up, so we're more likely to get "Tom & Jerry Meet the Goonies" first, or something with the Gremlins. We've already had official Judy-canon Wizard ...

Re: Dora the Explorer Live Action trailer. Dora with a knife!

Er, I question the mentality of having both a "real" Dora AND a "real" Swiper--
You can have a Real Dora with a Real-monkey Boots, but if they bring in a talking Real Backpack, they'll just be completely at sea at this point.

Re: Arctic Dogs

Thanks to certain other movies, if I see a no-name studio release with B-list actors and "Dog" in the title, I immediately look up IMDb to see which country it came from.
Whew, this doesn't seem to be Chinese, but...

Re: Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?

Aha, so THAT'S why Warner restored all those lost-rights New Scooby-Doo Movies from the 70's for the "almost complete" boxset! You'll notice that '19 Scooby now meets Wonder Woman rather than Batman & Robin, now that Warner's put her in front of their DC Comics movie/TV franchise. ( And Sherlock Hol...

So...they ARE doing the Buddy-cop-guardian-angels idea, then? Told ya it sounded kind of cute, and I'd trust Pete Docter with it.

Re: Mighty mouse live action film & Spice girls animated film in the works!

Even as a kid watching the Terrytoons show, one could appreciate that those cartoons were bottom-rung. I YouTubed some "classic" MM shorts recently, and... pretty boring. "Boring" wasn't the word that always struck my mind as a kid, it was "BIZARRE". Even in the late 30's to early 50's, the...

Re: The Twilight Zone

The interesting thing is that originally that wasn’t even the one Spielberg was going to direct. He very much wanted to do “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street”, where (thanks for SPOILER) . It would have been very interesting to see Spielberg take on this really dark material (also you can’t help...

Re: The Twilight Zone

And when they don't speed up, they get creative and trim a scene. One example that comes to mind is "The Howling Man". At the end when the devil would walk behind the pillars to gradually reveal his true self, that all now happens in the span of one pillar. Sloppy and pointless! Takes away from the...

Re: Banana Splits five nights Movie Trailer!

Here's the thing about The Banana Split Show: it was terrible. The theme song was a classic. But the show itself was a nightmare. It's horrible, but the painfully-unfunny suit characters were only wraparound segments for Jonny Quest-era ADVENTURE! cartoons ( Arabian Knights , Three Musketeers) whic...

Re: Mighty mouse live action film & Spice girls animated film in the works!

A new take on MM has been coming for years. I just hope they do it right and not as some meta/ironic/post modernist, knowing spoof, which is becoming stale thesedays. The live-action and animation combination could either be the make or break of it... I have the feeling that it's going to be more i...

EricJ, do you ever look forward to movies and think they offer something new?
You do know you're asking that about a sequel, right?
