Re: Remakes! Remakes! Read all about 'em!
The Smurf movie is not a remake but just another movie using the characters. The Great Gatsby movie is another movie based on the popular novel and not the remake of a prior movie. The Gremlins hasn't been green-lighted yet. 21 Jump Street was a movie based remotely on a TV series. The Last Starfigh...

Re: Man of Steel (2013)
Jack the Giant Killer isn't too bad. Good visuals but 3D version is a waste. Story is merely okay.

Re: Man of Steel (2013)
I've got to quit agreeing with ShyViolet! Singer is a snooze and I can't understand why he is being kept around for X-men.

Re: J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek"
I have to agree. While fun and enjoyable, the new Trek isn't Trek for the reasons ShyViolet mentions. That was evident in the first movie and looks like it continues with the second. Maybe more Trekiness would have turned off possible new fans but I would like to see more Trek in Trek. I do hope Sta...

Re: Titan A.E.
I also enjoyed Titan A.E. What I didn't much care for was some of the character design. Many of the aliens were just weird. Same complaint I have for Treasure Planet. I didn't realize that Joss Whedon was involved with the script at some point.

Re: Disney to acquire Lucasfilm, Star Wars franchise
Really, it came down to letting Star Wars die with Lucas or for Lucas to become eternal by extending the life of Star Wars. Lucas had already thrown his hands up in the air with all the flack he has gotten with what he has done to his creation. Upon further reflection, I'm sure he decided he couldn'...

Re: Disney's Gravity Falls
Animation looks good and from just a little glimpse looks like the humor is not wacked out like Adventure Time. My kids definitely don't watch Adventure Time.

Re: Disney's Frozen (formerly Snow Queen) 2013
How can a studio lose sight of commerce? It it does, it can't make movies anymore. Doesn't mean they should forget about story and character but you can't drop the commerce. You've got to get people in the door to see your product or all the story and character is going to be enjoyed by few, regardl...

Re: Brave
I enjoyed the characters and the visuals. I have to agree the story seemed to be a retread of others done before. Anything shown during the credits (I hate that this is such a habit with so many movies these days)? Our theater lost power at the end and while they made sure we saw the end of the movi...

Tron: Uprising
Link on main page for DisneyXD.ca is wrong (left of the XD). Plus, the video only works for those in Canada as the website so kindly told me when I tried to watch it. You can go to DisneyXD.com and get to the video, however.

Re: On the Stream
Timmy is aimed at preschoolers. So, it was probably on Disney Junior. It is also available on Netflix. since most online content is still derived from television or theatrical sources Online is heading towards a lot of its own content, though not so much in animation thus far. The latest Amazon Stud...

Well, I guess there's a place for online content on Off the Shelf. Not much action there regarding online content, however.

On the Stream
Looks like there needs to be a new Forum Topic - On the Stream. We've ditched cable/satellite and have gone to Netflix and HuluPlus. Lots of great animation finds. I particularly liked Aardman's Shaun the Sheep and my kids have enjoyed it as well. If it was broadcast in the US, I don't know on what ...

Re: Sony and Aardman Move Forward with Two Projects
I've also read a couple of jokes were toned down and the term "girl guide" was changed to "girl scout." Girl Guides are the UK equivalent of Girl Scouts in the US. I don't know the context in the movie since I haven't seen it yet but I imagine the change was to make more sense to those in the USofA...
