I wouldn't be surprised if all the Muppet Movies came to disc by next Christmas, through Disney. The Columbia TriStar discs out now are woefully under-stocked, with the original Muppet Movie actually a slightly bizarre trimmed version, with an overly loud music track that cancels out a lot of dialog...

Small One IS Bluth's best work...easily, though NIMH is a very close second. I play Small One before our big feature every Christmas in our home theater, and it gets me EVERY time. Waterworks city when the boy sends Small One off with Jospeh, and there's that moment when he stops, turns around and w...

Was it based on the Berlin show?

I'd LOVE to see that (and there is talk of transferring it into English, either for London or Broadway). That would be something!

Ben, you have just crushed my hopes. I really was wishing the Mary Poppins Broadway show would be just as wonderul as the movie. Sorry to potentially upset you Mr SP, and I would of course suggest you catch it yourself whenever it arrives on the Great White Way, but all I can say is that they have ...

Re: documentary

I saw a preview of the Poppins musical.

And it is s**t. Really. P**s poor. And it takes me a lot to get rilled up like that.

George... In the review I state that, yes, the CONTENT is the main thing, and here the set delivers. My main gripe - and with a specific COLLECTORS line like this it is ENTIRELY appropriate - is that the series is not consistent in appearance. Put the new ones up on your shelf and tell me which is P...

Walt Disney Treasures

You may have seen our recent news item up about the "cut backs" in the new wave: http://www.animated-news.com/archives/00002761.html To recap: No wraparound (meaning no title on the side. Great ) Certificates SIGNED BY LEONARD MALTIN ONLY. Roy Disney's name has been complete removed from any packagi...

I actually made a point of not saying "box", since I knew that would be taken the wrong way.

I said "block" (which could be any shape). :)

Was just about to post that! That's the one I was meaning in my comment above, though I got the "tree branches" a little wrong! Rand...one of my pet peeves about the Platinum line is how they've adopted this "title in a big (usually black) block in the middle of the image" thing. I agree that it bre...

Cover art looks much better, but I still prefer the alternate versions that were going around (with the Bambi lettering a lot more how we remember it, and encased in a couple of interlocking "tree branches"). The trailer took ages to download, and I had some trouble with it for some reason, but the ...

Welcome to the new boards. Sorry, but I have just as much trohble with you when opening DVD ROM material. I've found that, when it works, InterActual Player is probably the one that works best, but usually when I try to watch the movie through it, the whole thing dies on me. Actually, I wasn't aware...
