Re: Jurassic World

Since it mentions it, can I just point out that "Baby Yoda" looks way more like a "Baby Greedo", especially with those eyes. The merch rush is just starting over here with D+ coming to the UK soon, with much emphasis on Baby Yoda, but am I alone I’m finding it less cute than everyone seems to be say...

Re: Top five FAVORITE movies? (Can include animation)

Well, especially given that list I still stand by Slumdog being the last "great" Oscar film, and that was over ten years ago! This is not to say that we haven’t had good movies since then, and goodness knows that the Academy hasn’t always historically got things "right", but there just haven’t been ...

Re: Top five FAVORITE movies? (Can include animation)

Funny...just last night we caught a clip of Slumdog Millionaire on TV and both me and my wife turned to each other and said, "you know, I think this was the last Best Picture winner that really deserved its Oscar", meaning as a film that could stand with the real classics in that list. Sadly since t...

Re: Top five FAVORITE movies? (Can include animation)

Yes, I’d agree with that. It’s not that LOTR has been "forgotten", but The Hobbitses certainly went some way, instead of enhancing the earlier films, to sullying them quite a bit.

Re: J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek"

I do recall, after all the hype, watching Encounter At Farpoint and being distinctly underwhelmed. TNG took a lot of getting used to!

(can include animation)

Animated movies are movies too, Vi. ;)

I’ll have to have a proper think about a top five, but Superman: The Movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the Back To The Future Trilogy (yeah, I’m gonna cheat that one!) are in there.

(cough)Anomalisa beat Storks(cough, cough) ;) ;) ;)

But MU beat Mad 3, so all is okay. Surprising what got pretty highly ranked, though.

Re: Disney's Rapunzel (Live-Action)

Well, I couldn’t be bothered to read all that stream of, uh, consciousness, but looking at that page I saw two things. That you’re wrong, and that you don’t get what the Classic in Turner Classic Movies means. Okay, so I didn’t see Nutcracker for a long time, and maybe expectations were so low they ...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Basically, the Nolanverse is a strange hybrid that really doesn’t fit into either category. :? Let us not forget that, before Batman Begins, Nolan was not to force that the film's success would eventually make him. He couldn’t even get to use the Dark Knight name in the title, since Warners believe...
