Re: Disney's Frozen
It just goes to show that there's a sizeable international market for a decent well-told story featuring a female lead and this is NOT a fluke unlike what some film executives and younger or oblivious movie fans might think. OR, that the Japanese are obsessed with anything cute and/or Disney. (Mean...

Re: Big Hero 6
Not quite sure what you were getting at with BHS 6's end Ie., that I know what they were getting at comparing [SPOILER] to Hiro's funk over losing his brother, but as gripping climaxes go, I can think of more involving ones than "Oh-yes. We-must-stop-the-villain-from-wiping-out-the-rich-obnoxious-j...

Re: Big Hero 6
Finally saw it today, was very sweet and a lot of fun. WDAS is certainly on a roll. :) Although you would agree, that during the "gripping" climax where Krei is in danger, as much as the filmmakers want to play up the "Loss turned into revenge" idea, there's this inescapably overriding sense of " (...

Re: Disney's first Christmas cartoon rediscovered
It was symbolic, really, of the re-dedication after Iger replaced Eisner, but in the real world...there's never really BEEN a 20's-30's B/W non-Fleischer character who was funny, and that, sadly, includes Steamboat Willie.TitusTodd wrote:Disney got Oswald back and have done so little with him since.

Starring, as the current ABC ads now point out, "A Holy Grail of guest stars!"
(Uh, gee, I'm not quite sure what point you're getting at there, ABC, could you be a little less subtle?)

Re: SPIDEY 4 becomes AMAZING SPIDER MAN
Sony is desperate, period! Or else we wouldn't be hearing about a possible Men In Black/Jump Street crossover movie... But that's the only three Brandname Franchises they HAVE! (Unless Spiderman starts teaming up with the Smurfs... And too bad they ended the Resident Evil series, there could...

Re: Criterion Collection
 I had the good fortune to see Time Bandits in the theater before Terry Gilliam became TERRY GILLIAM (which he did shortly around the time he became the artistic "martyr" for Brazil), so I had the freedom to just see it as a movie, and the audience expecting another post-Python Life of Brian:...

and using Kraven's Last Hunt as a storyline he'd like to make happen, noting a lot of what made the story so great in the first place. Still, him merely talking about it makes it all moot. But it's clear that everyone not knowing what to do with Spider-Man makes it all that much more depressing as ...

Re: Will Disney buy DWA?
Well, just saying a little variety of DWA defense away from the D-word would be good for anybody in the discussions--At least we're not all singling out the first Kung Fu Panda as the sole reason for the studio to still exist. And to be honest, I'm halfway through Dragons 2 right now on 3D streaming...

Re: Ant-Man
The real (non-Wright) teaser had its SDCC no-camera rule extra-strictly enforced, so all that was ever leaked out was an audio recording and a poster, but the former sounded pretty good. They're keeping the comic arc of Scott Lang stealing the suit from Pym and becoming the new replacement hero--wit...

That said, I think Penguins will do well on home vid, ironically where Vi didn't think it would stand much of a chance either. I can see it doing quite well there, though. Again, I think Vi is just clinging on to that one Dean DeBlois life preserver that how could DWA ever be bad if they make Drago...

Re: Looney Tunes Golden/Platinum Collections
Well, that's just it: The posing fan wants to quote the Clampett "Woo-hoo, woo-hoo!" AND the Jones "You're dethpicable", and blithely ignores that it's a little hard to do both . Have to make a choice, and that involves a little actual field experience. So the posing fans without any go on right ahe...
