Wow. Definitely looks like Spielberg is back in action (mode). I have even more confidence that this will be a supremely well-directed extravaganza. Now one can only hope that the story will be worthy of Indy. Fingers crossed...

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL No way would I miss what looks like the only chance I'll ever have to see an Indy film in theaters. I've always been a fan of Spielberg, and Raiders was what hooked me on action movies. As mentioned, Wall-E, Dark Knight, and.... "I am Prince Gaspian."

Here we go.... I simply loved Sweeney Todd. Even though I knew what was going to happen, this was the first theater movie in a long time that actually had my heart pumping, especially for the last 15 minutes, probably due to the acting, direction, and editing. The music was mixed really loud at cert...

Nice to see Giacchino finally nominated for best score, though I have a feeling that Atonement or 3:10 to Yuma will win...the Academy seems to like "serious" films. As for Michael Clayton...I'm a huge James Newton Howard fan, but this has got to be one of his worst scores ever. There were plenty of ...

I just got the soundtrack, and now I absolutely have to see this. Sondheim is a musical genius, and Burton is one of my favorite directors. Just seeing the main title sequence gives me goosebumps--kind of like a twisted version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory main titles. Others have said it be...

Oh, Pokemon.... I remember those days.... Though I played the Game Boy things, I never really cared for the show...too much idiotic "Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light" stuff. I think the "Pokemon Adventures" comic by Hidenori Kusaka and Mato better represented that world. It's a lot darke...

According to the official site, it's been rated PG-13 for "sequences of fantasy violence." The book is quite dark at times, but the trailer for the movie made it look like a Happyland PG movie. I guess we'll see how it really is soon.

Excellent review, Ben. Better than a certain other review from a certain other site that usually gives pretty good DVD reviews. I though the funniest, most ironic "alternate title" was "Ratz, with a Z," as Brad Lewis put it. Lewis was one of the producers for Antz.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise to learn how good this movie is doing. I was a bit worried at first, because the ads in my local paper didn't have any rave reviews for it. Well, the paper itself liked it, but I don't always agree with their reviews. But it's gotten good word by the usually harsh Carto...

I think Rescuers Down Under gets overlooked because it came out between the towering Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Marahute's flight is just wonderful, perfectly accompanied by the underrated Bruce Broughton's soaring score. Duncan Marjoribanks also did a stellar job with McLeach--I think...

Yes, Burton's films are dark, but they always have some emotional center to them that softens them a little as opposed to the harshness of, say, a David Fincher or David Cronenberg film (both of whom I also really like). Looking forward to both of these. Disney has actually been as good as Warner Br...

So Millar won't be doing SR2 because he's a Marvel guy? I had no idea Marvel and DC's rivalry is such that they don't allow hiring of the competition, even temporarily. It happens all the time in animation, but maybe that's just animation.

I can't get my DVD right now, so I'll have to resort to quoting IMDB (under "Alternate Versions"). It's a run-on sentence, but as I recall, it pretty much describes what happens in the scene. The alternate identity of Oogie Boogie where it's not a bunch of bugs but Dr. Finklestein (the mad scientist...

Yes.

Though I can see why they took it out...way too contradictory.
