Re: Oscar Contest 2024

Oppenheimer seems to be the consensus choice for Best Pic, and Nolan also likely takes it. I don't like the idea of Cillian winning, as it really wasn't a showy role, but the Oppie train may be hard to stop. Personally, I'd love to see Giamatti take home a trophy. I like Stone to win for Best Actres...

Re: The New DVD and Blu Thread

The thread rises from the dead! Nice job! Feels like visiting an old friend I had forgotten about. :D I am definitely in the same boat. I am at the point where my collection is "mature." I have what I want, and it is getting pretty hard to surprise or delight me with disc announcements. So many anno...

Oh, good. That's the one other nominee I'm most interested in checking out. Sounds right up my alley.

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

I really enjoyed Moon Knight, too. It was a slice of something different, and well acted. Falcon and Winter Soldier was a fun watch, though it lacked a sensical antagonist. Re: Oscar Contest 2024

I just submitted my totally uninformed picks. Having only seen Spidey and Oppenheimer, I didn't have much to go on.

Re: Looney Tunes Golden/Platinum Collections

Even Thad, often a grump, mostly praises the discs, and accepts them for what they are - which is mostly pretty great.

Thad reviews Volume 3:

I've been watching Volume 1, and am very impressed with how great these look. Just ordered Volume 2 yesterday, but think I'm even more looking forward to the odd mix of Volume 3.

Re: DMC Exclusive Disney Blus

No surprise there. The deal was only about the US and Canada from the very first reporting. And Disney is still calling the shots. So, we'll just have to wait and see what kind of influence Sony will really have on what comes out.

Re: Criterion Collection

I was always curious about Peeping Tom, given its pedigree, but figured I'd find it uncomfortable. Interesting that Ben loves it, though.
