Re: Planes

I agree. But that's the buzz going around. Of course, there are certain factors to consider. For instance, I wouldn't be surprised if lowered expectations for Planes accounted for some of the test audiences' satisfaction. Nonetheless, the film is also testing higher than both Cars films, another som...

Re: Planes

I think we should at least give Planes a chance. Yeah, I know Cars 2 was disappointing. But Planes is from a different production team. Director Klay Hall did solid work on King of the Hill , in addition to helming arguably the best Tinker Bell movie, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure . Plus, Planes...

Re: 2013 Oscar Contest

I thought this might be a little too 'gossipy' to put on AV's front page: The Hollywood Reporter says Paperman producer Kristina Reed was temporarily removed from the Oscars last night after she threw paper airplanes - complete with lipstick kisses - from her seat in the mezzanine. Reed had hoped th...

Re: 2013 Oscar Contest

Yeah, congrats to leonorab! That score is fantastic, especially given how unpredictable the Oscars were this year.

Regarding Brave's win, I almost wonder if voters were rewarding Chapman rather than the film itself, given the circumstances of her departure from the project.

Re: 2013 Oscars "Best Animated Film" Nominees

I hope Wreck-It Ralph wins. It's nice to see Walt Disney Animation Studios have another serious shot at winning the award, especially since their last one was probably Lilo & Stitch in 2003. If Ralph and Paperman win, I believe it will be the first time a studio has won both Best Animated Feature an...

Re: 2012 Primetime Emmy nominations announced

A surprising but welcome nomination is the one for Jason Segel and The Muppets' song from SNL , "I Can't Believe I'm Hosting": http://www.hulu.com/watch/302534 . Probably my favorite moment from the show last season. (Kermit: "No, no, no, listen, it makes perfect sense that they would pick Jason [to...

Re: Finding Nemo 2 (yes it's real)

I'm not sure Stanton's Twitter message was meant to dispel the news. I think he was just trying to reassure folks that a Finding Nemo sequel is not the end of the world (or Pixar's reputation). I would like to see a Finding Nemo sequel focusing on Dory's past. I'm not talking about a prequel; I mean...

Re: Monsters University

<r>A few years ago, I wrote an idea for the Monsters, Inc. sequel, here in the AV Forum, that included Mike being used as a disco ball. Cool to see something similar in the trailer, I guess. (Not saying Pixar stole my idea or anything. Heck, I'm probably the only one who even remembers it. <E>:)</E>...

Re: Pre-Order deal for BatB and TLK 3D Blu Rays

Most of the changes in Simba's Pride involved colorization. The result helped the film look more like its predecessor. MyLionKing.com has a good before/after shot. There were also a few other slight changes, as documented by LionKing.org . Unfortunately for many Simba's Pride fans, the two changes w...

Re: Pre-Order deal for BatB and TLK 3D Blu Rays

I wonder which versions of The Lion King and Simba's Pride will be in the new Blu-ray trilogy. I'm guessing both will be the Special Edition versions. But who knows, since a lot of folks weren't thrilled with some of The Lion King 's changes (particularly the shot of the crocodiles during "I Just Ca...

Great Amazon.com sale for new animated Blu-rays

Amazon.com has a great sale on some of the latest animation-related Blu-rays. Thought you guys would like to know. I'm not sure how long the sale will last. But I think the folks behind it are hoping these titles will end up in numerous Easter baskets. $10.49 Fantastic Mr. Fox $12.99 Megamind How To...

Deadline.com indicates Winnie the Pooh has been moved from March 2011 to July 15, 2011. Re: Nothing's: Impossible - M:I-4 on the way with Cruise

It seems Paramount has offered the fourth Mission to Bird. Whether he chooses to accept it may depend on his paycheck. A source close to the deal says that the talks hinge on Bird's mammoth quote: animation projects can take three years of work, and therefore the directors get paid much more, and co...

Re: Tinker Bell

Anyone else think this new trailer for Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue looks really, really good? The movie was written by Bob Hilgenberg and Rob Muir, the same team who wrote Circle 7's Monsters, Inc. 2 script (which was rumored to be amazing). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFNIEbvBvsA&
