Re: Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Live-Action)

Well, ironically, except for in Return To Never-Land... For a film made in 2002, especially coming after the shakeup being described in another thread on Shrek, it is *remarkably* restrained as far as contemporary references go (even the end credit song is a cover!). Of course it's of its time — any...

Re: Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Live-Action)

While it looks *pretty* good, and for 2005 it’s very impressive, it’s the lighting and coloring that is making this look much better than it is. The actual animation is an awkward combination of being too simplistic *and* over-hyper — sound and performance would have naturally helped but neither cha...

Re: Batman: The Animated Series

I’m split on Conroy. Yes, he owns the character in animation, but he’s no spring chicken thesedays, and I feel it’s time to bring in someone new who can carry this forward over the next decade or more. Depends what their take is, I suppose, but despite legacy holdover Timm, the alternative take on t...

Re: Shrek reboot

Point exactly. None of that matters. Does Shrek work twenty years on without knowing about the acrimonious background, as if most casual moviegoers even cared in the first place...?

Yes.

Re: More Disney Blus...Aug 12, 2014

My mistake. I did read somewhere that the film had been restored and included The Martins And The Coys opening segment intact, as it should do. This was around or before D+ was launched, so there was first hope of a DMC release and then that it might pop up on D+ unscathed. Anyone else remember that...

Re: Disney's Raya And The Last Dragon

If there was one thing that (slightly) marred Raya for me, and as I mentioned in my capsule review above, it was the quality of the home recording. Most ears won’t hear these things, but I started in sound, and through the pandemic the *huge* drop in audio quality on any number of shows has been not...

Re: More Disney Blus...Aug 12, 2014

Well, I believe that the double feature is out and we'll get individual discs for each of the last two animateds. The South American features are one thing (they couldn’t really sell Amigos on its own without extras, and they don’t usually want to get into those), and Disney isn’t dumb. They know we...

Re: Hotel Transylvania 4

Yeah, being "too busy" doesn’t wash. Pocahontas famously recorded Mel Gibson's vocals in location trailers and whenever they could nab him, and it’s often par for the course to grab a line here or there. They could have easily made it work with having a stand-in vocalist basically provide the voice ...

Although it’s not a digibook, that Target has the nicest art, again, though I already have my regular disc on the way! This is easily my pick for our family Christmas movie this year.

Re: More Disney Blus...Aug 12, 2014

I don’t really need Mr Nanny...oops, I mean The Spy Next Door...er, oh, I mean The Pacifier, but I’m well up for the fifth Herbie. No, it’s not great, but I have the originals, which we had just run when the pandemic cancelled our movie nights. Fully Loaded would have been run from the DVD but now I...

Wow...that’s quick! The closer it gets the more and more truly excited to see this. Looks the most fresh animated film in a long while.
