Re: Avengers and the MCU

So, Loki ... Is it just me, or was Loki conceptually a disaster? I like the cast, and it was kind of fun and interesting, but I don't think the writers ever actually figured out what the heck they were doing. The whole "variant" thing never made a lick of sense to me. And they couldn't seem to stick...

Re: Magic School Bus Live Action Film with Elizabeth Banks

Banks has also been attached to the film for over a year. That Collider article is from June 2020, i.e. before the author even died.

Re: Disney's Encanto!

I don't think that Miranda single-handedly got the film greenlit. That's really silly, no? I would hope that every creative person is always trying to do his best work, regardless of the job. And you can't blame someone for taking advantage when he's in demand. Would you expect him to pass on every ...

Re: Movie Trailers A love Story?

Welcome, Caroline!

I often avoìd trailers to avoid spoilers.... except for films I'm unlikely to watch! I like to see the teasers, though, since they generally give you the flavour of a movie without telling the story.

Re: YouTube Goodness

Actually, the Shakespeare stuff is the only thing I don't like in STVI.

"You should read it in the original Klingon!"?? I didn't find that funny, since the Klingon didn't seem to mean it as a joke. Just dumb and inexplicable. It threatened to turn a good film into camp.

Re: YouTube Goodness

Oh, yeah. For my money, it's the best of the Trek films. It starts with that cast - David Warner! Shatner's old pal Christopher Plummer as his adversary! Brock Peters! Grace Lee Whitney even gets a scene! Kim Cattrall! Mark Leonard as Sarek! Michael Dorn plays a Worf ancestor! Add to that some great...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

So cool to think that Donner's Superman informed the development of the MCU. STM remains my favourite film and it always will be. Nothing has impacted me in my life like that film. Between Richard, Chris, and John, it's just an ideal (if admittedly not perfect) piece of work. Plus, Donner did a lot ...

Re: Pixar's Luca

It's funny, but Canada seems to have fewer accents, despite being vastly larger than the UK, and also quite a bit larger than the USA. Our small population is much more spread out, so one might expect a larger variety of accents. In the USA, it's easy to tell whether someone is from Mississippi vers...

Re: Disney’s Jungle Cruise

I see this as a one-off, but it does look like good fun. I also thought it was quite Mummy-ish from the first footage I saw of it.

Re: Non-Italian voices: Very fair point. Though, for me, my thought is that most Italians, certainly of that era, would not speak Italian-accented English to one another anyway. They just spoke Italian. So, to be fully authentic, they would speak Italian in the film, and we'd be reading Italian subt...

I caught this on YT yesterday. Dang, hearing Jim's voice still brings tears for me when I listen to this song.

I was surprised how scratchy Kermit's vocals are, but I still loved this duet.

Yes. Also, I trust Blu-ray.com. It mentions the featurette for the US release.
