I like the covers. They are the original movie posters, after all. I wish more studios would use those, rather than creating new "head shot" pieces for everything. The Batman one is cool, too.

I'm now leaning towards the 4-disc set myself. The box art is purty, although the tin looks nice too.

I have this serial on tape. It's LOTS of cheesy fun. It was the subject of my first "serial party" with my buddies, years ago--- the start of a fine tradition.

I wouldn't think they could edit it at all, since they'd pretty much have to delete the villain altogether!

Geez, I should show my wife Ben's list so she can see that I'm not the only one who buys lots of these things. :) I buy animation, sci-fi, and a few classics. The last few weeks, there's been: I Robot SE, Muppet Show (shipping soon), Farscape Starburst editions, Rock and Rule (2-disc), Team America,...

(I know George probably knows this, but for all the youngsters out there...) Actually, Harryhausen's also doing the commentary because King Kong was THE film that set him off on his course to eclipsing O'Brien's legacy with his own fantastic career. (Harryhausen has always said that seeing King Kong...

Whew, got here before GeorgeC! The Bits has posted the details on the 11/22/05 release of the original King Kong! It looks stupendous, with a Ray Harryhausen commentary  , a 2-hour doc from Peter Jackson, and more. Looks great. Then, there's a tin-clad package with the set PLUS replicas of th...

IMO, while I'm not a big fan of the show, the new The Batman is not so much crap as it is perhaps mediocre. (Of course, some might say that mediocrity and crap are the same thing.) The writing is less complex than on BTAS, the toy tie-in stuff can be intrusive, and some character design & voice choi...

Campy film, but fun, and oddly faithful in many ways to the original comic strip. The serials will always be my favorite version, though. Filmation did decently, too. The 1990s animated version was an oddball, however.

Yep, a nice beefy R1 release for the Sam Jones version would be pretty spiffy!

It should be no surprise to the studios that DVD sales are leveling off. It had to happen some day. You've all made great points--- especially that the number of reissues is just getting dumb. Fox put out 2-disc editions of I, Robot and The Day After Tomorrow just months after pumping millions of 1-...

I've seen the end of the JLU season, and agree that it was reeeeally great. I even liked the Batman Beyond-themed wrap-up, though it's sure to be controversial. Next season, you may have heard, should also be epic, as it will include the Legion of Doom, and Legion of Superheroes. Re: The Spirit--- Y...

This sounds like an amazing release. Warner knows how to do right by classic films. Their multi-disc sets are just terrific.

Yeah, I think that the TP and HOTR DVDs were fine too, but I've been holding off on getting Lilo & Stitch until the 2-disc'er's released. Nice to hear it'll finally be out in a few months (provided this info doesn't change).

Better than Spirited Away?!?

Wow, I gotta see this! Thanks for your review! I don't know if I'll get around to seeing it in the theater, but I'm looking forward to the DVD for sure.

Yes, I was referring to Galatea--- but she's obviously based on Power Girl, as you mentioned, although she's not referred to by that name. I thought it was a neat use of the character, considering her pre-Crisis origins from the comics.

I'd love to see Vistas of both those films. I can't bring myself to buy the current DVD versions. I'm very leery of a Spirit film. If you don't care for Smallville, George, then you may not care for The Spirit's script, which is being handled by Jeph Loeb (writer and editor/consultant on Smallville)...
