I don't see how anyone could think otherwise. I would try to explain but Tangled has taught me not to bother. And all the jokes are just using the word "smurf" or "enchanted forest" instead of the gross words or curse words that would usually be said. I'll admit it's been proably a good decade sinc...

Re: Cartoon Brew preview of 2011 animated films

Gnomeo tapped into that market that used to be jealously-guarded primo-roonie for studios even up to '03-'04, but has been all-but-forgotten in the last few years: The February School-Vacation Quickie. I get the impression Eric, that even if Gnomeo made $200 million at the box office, you wouldn't ...

-Do you consider yourself a collector, and if so, how many Disney DVDs/Blu-rays do you own? Yes I do, I own all the Disney Canon movies on DVD and all the ones that have been released on Blu-Ray for the Australian market. I have a number of live action Disney DVDs as well. But I'm too lazy to walk i...

My 10 month old housemate was transfixed by the trailer and squealed with delight a number of times. My first impression was that it might make an alright DVD watch for a Smurfs fan like me. Unless the reviews are spectacular I won't be running to the cinema to see it. BUT at least the trailer left ...

Randall, I quite enjoyed Tales From Earthsea and never understood the drumming it got. I will admit though that I have never read the source material, so that may have helped me enjoy it. The beginning is a bit confusing though, but once it gets past that and the actual story begins I thoroughly enj...

In simple terms just what the hell is cinematography. I've always just assumed it was lighting and pretty scenery. I admit when I play who will win the Oscar I just go for the picture with the wide open spaces, with no real idea what the hell I'm meant to be looking at.

The sleep chamber was the best use of 3D, I really felt like the back of the cinema went way way way back. The only other time that I thought it was effective was when the pollen was falling off the trees and swirling around in a lovely tribute to Pocahontas' leaves and Princess Mononoke's sprite sp...

I'm in the camp that thought I See The Light should be winning the Oscar BEFORE the ceremony. After seeing the 4 songs performed I really wanted it to win. It was easily the only song that when performed outside of the movie, still helped tell the story of some part of the film. It was very telling ...

Sure it's well known that February is the dumping ground for movies these days. BUT if a movie sucks it will still suck in February and people won't see it. The fact that Gnomeo has shown some legs over the past week indicates that the public think it is better than your typical February dumped movi...

Sorry, bit of a random Buffy The Vampire Reference there. Not saying you didn't know that, just letting you know in case you didn't know. Anyway back to Avatar, the reason it was easy to follow is that the story of so generic. Regardless of when Cameron wrote it, it is still a generic story which ha...

Guess everybody missed my comment during the live chat about how they had an engraver backstage to do it :-( . I think they have been doing that since Nicole Kidman won her Oscar at least. I can't remember where or when I heard it though. I'll be back later to provide my detail thoughts on the night...

Are there any musical moments in the film or are the songs just played out over the action?

Wow Dusty just wow. When I stumbled upon the alternate opening, I thought well that will please Dusty. Apparently I was wrong.
