Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2

Disney's 2018 is going to beat their 2016, easily. Incredible. And 2019 will easily beat both of them. Seriously, their 2019 slate is insane: Captain Marvel Tim Burton's Dumbo Planes 3 (or some kind of spin-off set in that universe) Avengers 4 Star Wars 9 Toy Story 4 The Lion King Mulan Frozen 2 Pr...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

WONDER WOMAN IS AWESOME!!!!! Oh does that ever feel good to say that! Yep, Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman movie is a delight, a surprisingly thoughtful and meditative tale that evokes real pathos out of examining its titular lead characters discovery of the complex morality of human beings. Coupled with...

Re: Rock Dog

I will say Trolls fared fine against Doctor Strange, Captain Underpants is tracking super well in the face of Wonder Woman, I can see why they think going up against a non-Avengers/Guardians superhero entry could work out OK especially over a holiday weekend like President's Day that's been lucrativ...

Re: Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast

So, I saw this last Thursday and, in brief, it's actually pretty good but way too derivative of the original, it comes off like a cover band version of the original 1991 animated movie too often. There's some really weird editing in the first third of the movie and doing Be Our Guest with these uber...

DreamWorks Animations Larrkins Has Been Cancelled

Man oh man, no clue what's going down at DreamWorks Animation, but with just a year to go until release and high-profile voice actors like Hugh Jackman and Margot Robbie already recording their vocal tracks for the motion picture, DreamWorks Animation has abruptly canceled their Australian musical L...

Spark: A Space Tail

God, American animation looks so dire this year. Coco's the only thing in terms of theatrically released American animation I'm at all anticipating for the rest of the year. Spark: A Space Tail is one I'm dreading the most. It's not a good sign when a trailer makes me nostalgic for frigging Space Ch...

Re: Moonlight

It's so insane to me it became the frontrunner early on, let alone actually won, since it's very much not in the Academy's wheelhouse (since it stars members of the LGBTQA community, <drink-spray!!> Gay movies "not in the Oscar wheelhouse"? We've gotten at least one every YEAR, by the clock. (Who d...

Re: Moonlight

I haven't seen Moonlight , but it was considered the frontrunner long before La La Land (which I also haven't seen yet) gained so much momentum. It's so insane to me it became the frontrunner early on, let alone actually won, since it's very much not in the Academy's wheelhouse (since it stars memb...

Moonlight

Just thought I'd create a thread for this year's Best Picture winner, an award that came out after an already historic snafu! But yeah, Moonlight is amazing, my personal favorite movie of last year by a long shot! The tale of Chiron (told over three different parts of his life) is spectacular in all...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

Not even sure why a film like"Hillary's America" was on their radar. Razzies are supposed to be a kind of fun mocking of Hollywood. If they're going to start "recognizing" minor, low-budget things not much more than a youtube documentary, no one is going to care or pay attention anymore. Director i...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

And given the question, smart prediction bets are on McG, because "Well, he ALMOST did a Superman!" I'm placing bets on Brett Ratner getting a DC gig (maybe that Batman movie now that Matt Reeves has passed on it) in the near future since his company, RatPac-Dune, has been Warner Bros.'s go-to- co-...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

Oh God, am I ever glad Matt Reeves dodged a bullet here. That guy's incredibly talented and he doesn't deserve to get saddled with the sinking ship that is the DCEU.

So, who ends up taking this gig? McG or Brett Ratner?

Kong: Skull Island

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9y6oPka3us Surprisingly, this one has become one of my more anticipated movies of 2017! The trailers have been phenomenal, it looks gorgeous and I love juxtaposing such an A-list cast with what looks like an unabashedly goofy monster movie. Hope this one's a keeper ...
