I think WB executives wanted Burton to make WW more of a "father figure" to Charlie, and he was like no way, WW isn't supposed to be a father figure. (Like Wilder was) Tim Burton just makes Wonka nuts. Plus I think it's kind of funny that he says they have to stick to the book and all, but he invent...

Very cool, I like the DW music motif. Hmmmm, maybe they should have also done something with that little boy with the fishing pole. I heard that there were actually people out there who objected to that logo, as it endorses fish murder! But he's not REALLY catching fish, he's fishing for ideas. (Acc...

I've never seen the Fly You gotta see that Mac. Just don't eat a big lunch beforehand. It's interesting how Goldblum can play similar characters but still make the unique and interesting. He does a very similar version of David Levinson (ID4) in Jurassic Park (Ian Malcom) but he has a lot of...

If you listen to Mermaid, it's quite disjointed, with Daughters Of Triton never turning up as a musical motif in the rest of the score, and the French chef's song (which, okay, one could argue was the basis for Be Our Guest) just doesn't belong in that musical - totally different styles! Totally ag...

DuckTails: Treasure of the Lost Lamp?? (Launchpad)

That's the only other animated film I can think of released in 1990. (other than The Prince and the Pauper if you count that.)

Yeah but that's how he is in all his movies. I can't imagine jeff goldblum NOT sounding like that. I like him. He's just funny sometimes. BTW the Fly will be coming out on DVD soon (widescreen and everything) with missing scenes! The scenes are described if you look up the film on IMBD. (tri...

pffft. Jeff Goldblum MADE that movie.
Totally. Will Smith injected some energy as well, but he basically played the exact same character in Men InBlack and Wild, Wild West.

Jeff Goldblum's hilarious in this movie, though, :) How many times can this man say "And, uh...." :) :)

One thing I hated about ID4 was the HEAVY stereotypes--cocky black guy, Jewish nerd, annoying Jewish dad, single black mom, whiny gay guy, drunken red neck, etc, etc....Did they HAVE to have that many raging charicatures?? Plus the DIALOUGE: *upon seeing the devastation* Little boy: "What happened, ...

That was Judd Hirsch. He's been in a lot of films, and he played Russell Crowe's professor in A Beautiful Mind.

One word--meh. For me Bill Melendez's animated version is king. IMO live-action just doesn't lend itself well to this story at all. It's an ANIMATED story through and through. I mean, ALL THOSE TALKING ANIMALS and sense of fantasy--how can you make it in anything BUT animation?? BTW, when I say anim...
