The funny thing of course is that both Disney and the exhibitors stand to lose money, but neither one wants to be the first to give in.

Awesome! The more I see of this film, the more I find myself not caring that it's a sequel instead of a wholly new franchise. I agree that Cars 2 is a hard one to get excited about straight off the back of this but the small gap between that and The Bear and the Bow means it's not a massive wait for...

Re: Tangled (Formerly Rapunzel)

The studio does, if it means attracting a larger audience. I've noticed that the official site for Walt Disney Animation Studios has yet to display the new title. As this was announced a week ago, I find it odd that they haven't been more forthright in implementing the changes. Perhaps they are reco...

I understand that, but it seems to me a moot argument. If Tangled is a great film, people won't forget about in years to come because they didn't like the title. Lilo and Stitch hardly fits alongside the likes of Beauty and the Beast or The Little Mermaid, but it remains popular precisely because au...

The title is indeed a betrayal of Disney's past. Name a film that is very Disney, and was successful, and had a name like that. The Emporer's New Groove is the closest, but that was more like Warner Bros. humour than Disney, and it was not successful. And no movie that makes people think of Disney,...

In response to Dusterian, I'm not entirely sure what point it is that you're making, although claiming that a name change is somehow a betrayal of Disney's past is absurd. Aside from the fact that a title has literally no effect on the quality of a product (Cars anyone?), you're using it as an excus...

Re: The Animated Views MIA: DVD Thread

I'm still waiting for a DVD re-release of Make Mine Music. It's been impossible to obtain in the UK for years now and it's the only Disney "classic" I haven't seen, so imagine my frustration. I wonder if it will be getting a release on blu-ray anytime soon? I can't imagine it would be their highest ...

I have a major issue with people constantly referring to past examples as if that justifies Disney always creating films in this vain. Just because Pinocchio and Dumbo were successful doesn't mean that's always going to be the case. To put it another way, simply because Disney were popular in the 90...

From what I heard the Netherlands are still showing it, but they're limiting its run. As for the UK (where I'm from) the word is that ODEON, Vue and Showcase are boycotting it if Disney doesn't lengthen the window between the theatrical release and the DVD. This is a huge deal, because Disney is pro...

I agree. After years of waiting, Disney is back! I think they kept enough of the film hidden to appear mysterious. Although I would have liked to Disney to have put a lot more into marketing this film up to now, I think they would have ran the risk of looking desperate. This trailer definitely has a...

Is this cartoon playing before National Treasure in the UK? Because I went to see NT yesterday more for the Goofy short than the film and was severely disappointed that it wasn't attached. Could someone please help? Also, what was with the camera moving in from the RIGHT of the Disney castle rather ...

This isn't particularly surprising but comingsoon.net has announced that Disney's Bolt will be released in Disney Digital 3D next November. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=39541

Just got back from World's End and I have to say... I'm disappointed. I enjoyed it but it wasn't the conclusion I hoped for and it didn't compare to the sheer fun of the second film IMO. I shall post my opinion on the film later on.
