I know some think it's not loaded with enough worthwhile extra material, but considering how close it is in price to the 1-disc, I think it's worth it if you love the movie.

Star Trek: TMP - almost a very good film in its theatrical incarnation, and I think it does get there on the DVD version, which pretty much fixed pacing and SFX problems ST II - Everyone loves this one, though it's only my second or third favorite ST III - mediocre, but essential to watch as part of...

OK, so has everyone now seen the huge 14-disc package? If not, head to thedigitalbits or dvdactive. Just wow. Now we're talking!! I'm a Superman completist (sadly, I even bought the Superboy Season 1 set), so I admit that would have picked up whatever came out; but I'm very happy with how this Ultim...

I was shocked at how bad these covers are. They are just so uninspired. Oh well, that won't keep me from getting them of course. And I doubt the hoped-for BluRay versions will have anything too different for their covers. I hated Pryor's inclusion in III (nothing against him, it was just bad casting...

I have no interest in new CGI shots for Star Trek TOS (other than being curious to see a few random shots). It just wouldn't be the same, and for me would lose part of its charm. I'll hang on to my current DVD sets with the old-fashioned model work.

Nicholson did well, but was really too old and too chubby to be the Joker, IMO. The Joker was always a lanky guy in the comics, not a middle-aged guy with a spare tire. Mark was pretty good as the Joker, and I would have enjoyed seeing him get a shot at a live-action version. Alas, it shall never be...

Spirited Away simply blew me away, and is my favorite. The imagination in that one is astonishing. Princess Mononoke probably comes next for me. Actually, the biggest emotional response probably came from Grave of the Fireflies ; that one's pretty powerful, and had my wife sobbing so badly I had to...

GeorgeC--- As with anything else, reviews are mixed. Newsarama gave it a positive review (calling it "pretty close to great"). Coming Soon was also positive, though less enthusiastic. IGN gave it a 7/10. ToonZone was very positive, saying it was far better than one could expect, with action that bet...

Ben wrote:Looks like I'll go a-hunting for the Academy LaserDisc that popped up in Japan a while back...it's certainly worth having in the collection.
There was a US CLV release, too, in case you didn't know. It came out at the same time as the last CLV and CAV widescreen LDs. (I bought the CAV.)

As someone who has actually seen Ultimate Avengers, and is definitely NOT a Marvel zombie, I would have to say that it is much better than what one might expect--- depending on your tastes, of course. I have a feeling George wouldn't care for it, and that's fine. To each his own. It's not "the next ...

Interestingly, the special cover and book bundle for The Corpse Bride came from Future Shop (currently owned by Best Buy) here in Canada. My copy's in the mail, so I haven't seen it yet.

A bit off-topic, but I've been watching the superb new 2-disc set for Tim Burton's Batman, and... You Batman:TAS fans may be interested to know (as I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere) that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprise their roles in a storyboard sequence from a scene that was never shot f...
