Re: Disney Renaissance 2/Disney Revival
Most people don’t even know what’s going on in it. It’s just a disgruntled ex-employee, now powerful-ish, having a perceived dig at his old boss. Most people don’t get that, or know who Michael Eisner is, or was, even back then. Yes, I definitely feel that way about Shrek 1. Shrek 2 had a little bi...

Re: Disney Renaissance 2/Disney Revival
Building on the success that Eisner — who doesn’t get the credit he deserves nowadays — had achieved, and then fixing what was in danger of coming undone, was the most coherent and powerful that the studio had ever been, really, on creative levels. Within the next five years, it began to go sour…an...

Oops! Sorry about that. I didn’t see it until ‘03 so I got a bit confused. Lol.
Anyway, I still stand by my points.

Re: The state and future of animation
Actually, it has quite often: two examples are Spirited Away (2003) and Paprika (2007).
Also, a ton of shorts have been nominated: don’t forget about “Creature Comforts” and “The Wrong Trousers” from Aardman.

I’m definitely for Apple buying them, but I didn’t even consider what would happen to the parks….

Re: Disney Renaissance 2/Disney Revival
I just meant because of the whole “selling off pieces of the company”/acquisition talk….kind of takes you back to 1984, what with corporate raider Saul Steinberg almost buying Dis.

Re: The DOCTOR WHO Thread
Well, finally started watching Jodie on MAX. I guess I’m eating my words—she’s a really great Doc (even though I’m not terribly crazy about all of the writing)! Loved “Rosa”!

Re: Disney Renaissance 2/Disney Revival
Yes, it’s true, Disney’s television unit might actually be sold off. That’s like a third of the company. There’s also been A LOT of speculation that Dis really will be sold to Apple. https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/are-disney-linear-tv-networks-for-sale-bob-iger-1235675418/ So weird how all this st...

Re: Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Live-Action)
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with re-imagining some elements of fairy tales/older movies for a modern audience. Disney is going a bit overboard in changing so many details, though. Maybe we should stop letting women, midgets, LGBT, ethnicities, etc., stop driving the narrative about "punishi...

Re: YouTube Goodness
The Critic (1993). “Dr. Jay” https://youtu.be/85RkKbMyVYo (5:07). Yes, this has actually started happening. Maybe we can’t make a new ending to Casablanca yet (or maybe we can, I’m not even sure) but one thing that has been unearthed during the current Writer’s/Actor’s strike, is that Hollywood stud...
