Re: The Good Dinosaur
Fair enough. To be honest, though, I didn't really see Spot as a human child, but as a dog. Not that I'm heartless towards dogs--I own a black Lab, in fact--but I like dogs when they look like, you know, dogs. I guess it's my own weird sense of cognitive dissonance (that's probably the wrong term, b...

Re: Zootopia
I wonder who didn't see that final gag with the poodle coming as soon as it was set up--and it kept going far past when its humor value (which wasn't that large to begin with) ran out.EricJ wrote:And long-term laughs, not the ephemeral short-subject gags from SLoP.

Re: Zootopia
At my showing of Good Dinosaur, they showed this trailer first, then Finding Dory, Secret Life of Pets, Angry Birds, and that polar bear movie, which looks just wonderful. So they basically diminished in quality as we got closer to the feature. And while Finding Dory got some murmurs when the charac...

Re: The Good Dinosaur
In fact, in many ways, I think it was far and away Pixar's most intense movie to date. I don't know if I'd go that far. I'd personally rate A Bug's Life and The Incredibles as more intense. The former features Hopper, Thumper (not the rabbit), and a truly edge-of-your-seat climax. As for the latter...

Re: The Good Dinosaur
As for plot, well I already picked up from the following trailers that it wasn't going to be "original" in that original Pixar way, and though my initial thought that it could have been called Finding Dino might not be spot on for those who have seen it, it also doesn't actually sound that far off ...

Re: Me And My Shadow
I have no idea who David Walliams is (and it sounds like I might be better off keeping it that way). But if Wright indeed stays on this project to the end, and if it turns out similar in quality to his past films, this just might be the first DreamWorks Animation movie that I'll like unreservedly.

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
I think Henry Selick's track record has been much rockier than Burton's. I didn't really like Coraline, though to be fair to Selick, I haven't really connected with any of Laika's output (technically marvelous as their movies are). Anyway, regarding Apocalypse, I know Singer has a working relationsh...

Re: Bob Iger heading bid for NFL teams moving to LA
They can have the Raiders. Heck, they can have 49ers as well, what with the way their management's been behaving.
But I admit I'm not a football fan. As a Bay Area denizen, I'll take the recent successes of the Giants and the Warriors, teams that play sports that I enjoy watching more anyway.

Re: Inside Out
The problem is I can't link the accounts successfully. I start the process on the Disney Movies Anywhere site, which opens iTunes, but then nothing happens in iTunes itself (and the movies don't appear in the "Purchased" tab). But that's my own personal tech issue, and I don't really care that much ...

Re: Inside Out
There's also the chance that Disney will end the service if it doesn't work out for them. Meaning that all of the "extras" that you "own" could go ka-put. That's what annoys me a bit about digital, too. If you're streaming the content, you don't actually own it. Plus, if the Internet goes down, the...

Re: Inside Out
Maybe this has been mentioned before, but is anyone else a little miffed that Disney is starting to make some of the special features exclusive to Disney Movie Anywhere? Inside Out in particular has some deleted scenes and a featurette that are DMA-only. I suppose digital is the way of the future, b...

Re: Iron Giant
It was great to see this at a packed theater (on a Wednesday evening at that) with such a, well, incredible audience response. Quite a number of people brought their kids as well--I'd certainly have brought mine, if not for the wee fact that I don't actually have any. Though I suspect most of the au...

Re: Ant-Man
Yes, and I thought Fortson did a pretty good job with her limited screen time. I thought it was refreshing that they didn't cast someone who looks like or comes across as an overly-polished Disney Channel/Toddlers and Tiaras product.

Margot Robbie's the one aspect of Suicide Squad that has me intrigued.

Re: Ant-Man
Yeah, the Michael Pena buddy seemed very, very, very Nick Frost influenced, with a quick change for North America. The rapid-fire, quick-cut rhythm of those two scenes with Pena in particular were reminiscent of Wright's style as well. Don't know what to think of Suicide Squad yet. As for Batman v....
