Re:

Not sure that was a "test" animation, Eric. And Tink had a voice: she sneezes, and "old" Tink wouldn't have had a vocal for that. The first two "Pixie Previews" (Tink & the bell, and the pepper shaker), in addition to one each for the other characters, were tests for marketing the characters in sol...

Re:

EricJ , I think you were a little harsh on DisneyPictures, your language can be very in your face and I don't think it was best to use it on representatives from company's making the very movies we want to talk about. Okay, sorry, don't want to drive away new members-- Just get a little rankled at ...

Re:

I will say though I did like that the fairies apparently can't actually TALK to the humans Specifically, in that it shows how new-canon Tink (who is still supposed to be a prequeled "new" character) first learns to develop the pantomime performances from her classic Old-canon character. Which bridg...

Re: Oscars 2010

TS3 can really only hope for a Best Picture nom, Eric. As for it actually winning , that seems highly unlikely. It will win Best Animated Feature without any problem, with the only really thing standing in its path being the "are they really going to give it to Pixar again?" feeling that some peopl...

Re: Oscars 2010

Although it probobly won't happen, HTTYD has my vote. It did something to me that TS3 ..didn't. I can't quite explain it. I went in going with of course high hopes, but, put it this way, it was a very good movie. VERY good, but I guess HTTYD was a surprise, but it just blew me away. . Dragon seemed ...

Re: Green Lantern

Fans are complaining about the FX and costume?
(And NOT about the fact that it looks like a goofy remake of Fantastic Four? :x )

Let's just say, I DON'T think this was the movie the little kid at the convention had in mind. :(
There's only so much of the actual movie a trailer can hide.

...DINGDING! GENERIC TOPIC ALERT! ;) (Oh, lord, how many times?...Here, Dacey, if we give you the pre-Disney Shelley Duvall version to play with, will you sit down and stop distracting DisneyPictures away from the basic issue that we audiences already know about their Princess-phobia box-office-trau...

Re: Tangled

DisneyPictures , thank you very much for that link about why the directors changed the title. (Not that we believe a word of it, mind, but thanks for confirming the official studio-line all the same.) Also, a while back, there was another article that revealed that the marketing department a...

Hey, here's an explanation from the Directors on why they changed the title of the film: http://filmreviewonline.com/2010/11/01/tangled-directors-byron-howard-and-nathan-greno-on-why-its-not-called-rapunzel/ Oh, so had nothing to do with blind panic, and superstitious (and offensively condescending...

I'm now also intrigued by Gunbuster... ;) Well, George was kidding--Gunbuster's solid cliche', but it's good cliche'...More old than classic, though. And out of respect to Worst Animated Films, we should get one Anime for Beginners thread spun off of the last two pages into its own Outside the Line...

he Dirty Pair TV series is where the anime 'girls with guns' / 'fan-service' genre comes from . And like many such 'first' examples, the original version is still the best. Or, as Iike to put it, given the subjects of most of the two's frequent arguments, "Imagine Totally Spies with more ...

Re:

Yeah, I know about the Lupin series. So was the movie a cut-down/compilation from that show, or a "spin-off" of sorts, freshly made as a movie? Wasn't there also a Lupin III comic book...wasn't he a comics character to start with, even before the series? Yes: Miyazaki cut his teeth on directing the...
