Where is Pixarland? (Although I guess California Adventure is slowly becoming Pixarland; I liked that Monsters, Inc. ride.) Like I said earlier, "To be fair Disney was much more than just animation, and in that respect the analogy breaks down. But in the animation sense I think the Disney/Lasseter ...

As someone who actually has a bit of a personal stake in this debate, here's my $0.02. First of all Lasseter's Snow White is Toy Story. There is such a connection between these two films that on this point alone you could almost understand the Walt comparison. Disney and Lasseter took their respecti...

The very first computer I ever owned was a Commodore 16. No disk drive here, the 16 used a "Datasette" - basically a cassette recorder that allowed you to use audio tape to store programs and data! Unlike floppy disks which allowed you to see a list of the disk's contents, the datasette required you...

Just got back too. It was surprisingly not bad. Not great by any means, but good. A few too many similarities to Antz and A Bug's Life. The happy ending wrapped up a little too neatly. Cage's voice acting seemed very out of character for the ant he was playing. And definitely a "kids movie" ;). But ...

I didn't say it was bad - I said it wasn't that good! There is a difference! stigma associated with animation that any and every animated film (except for the very few R rated ones like Heavy Metal) ought to be appropriate for kids I agree that that should not be the perception. However, if a studio...

...And you of all people should know that not all animated films are intended for a child audience ( i.e. Corpse Bride). The vibe I got from all the trailers and tv spots I've seen is that Monster House was never supposed to be a kids movie. The fact that it is, for better or worse, an animated hor...

I hate to be the first, but here goes. It wasn't that good. It wasn't as bad as I was afraid it could be. But still not great. Big downsides: - some of the character designs were difficult to even look at - some facial expressions looked very unnatural - some spots animation seemed choppy, like a ba...
