Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

Yeah, that was an unfortunate casting choice, too...

Man oh man... I just DO NOT see Ben Affleck as Batman, either!
I've seen him in enough films. Don't hate the guy personally but he has zero-screen presence... I don't know how else to put it.

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

Why much of the internet is less than thrilled: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/not-trailer-leak-why-fans-789649 (I thought it was pretty cool! :) ) DC has a lot going against them because the last few films that have been adapted from the comics have not been very good... I would say,...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies

I recall seeing dusting being specifically done somewhere... A film clip of a Disney film that was in production way back when (1940s?). They knew back then about the problem and when the money wasn't a huge object they DID try to deal with the issue -- but that was probably only Disney that tried t...

Re: Official Star Wars Thread

I doubt it. They're wanting to keep away from the PT as much as possible, so theatrical reissues are not going to happen as the memory of Phantom Menace is still fresh. In the future, when all the films come to whatever home video format prevails at the time, well maybe see them then in 3D then, bu...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies

Having just purchased some Poitier films on Blu-ray, as well as the all-black film Stormy Weather, I'd certainly like to see Porgy and Bess! The Batman: TAS DVDs don't look especially sharp, really. I can see that they'd need a lot of work to spruce them up for BD. Meanwhile, recent DC shows--- eve...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies

Sneak-peak at the next DC animated film, Justice League: Gods & Monsters. It's coming out on home video on July 28th, 2015. This is NOT a direct adaptation of ANY published comic book story but an amalgam of different Elseworlds ideas and subplots. Looks very interesting BUT the versions of Batman, ...

Re: Disney Parks

I've always looked upon Disney's California Adventure park as a strange 'franken-mash' of bits of the Florida M-G-M park (Tower of Terror, Muppets 3-D) with some ill-advised 'Cali-themed' attractions (a 'paparazzi' ride? really..? ) and a few genuinely fun experiences (particularly Soaring O...

Re: Brad Bird's "The Spirit"

I love The Spirit, Droo... It's probably my favorite Golden Age (1940s/early 1940s) American comic book series. It's great that stuff like this DOES exist but unfortunately I don't think anybody in Hollywood will do anything with the character for a long time. The Miller film probably sank attempts ...

Re: Feature on early Pixar days

Pixar began as a unit of LucasFilm in the late 1970s. It was spun off into its own entity in 1986. (There actually WERE computer graphics in the original Star Wars but that was before Pixar was formed. The Rebel briefing room video prior to the Death Star attack is the film's piece of CG animation. ...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies

I have a feeling we won't see a Blu ray/HD release of Mask of the Phantasm or Sub-Zero until they do a 25th anniversary Blu ray release of Batman:TAS... that's IF WB does an HD release of that series. <SIGH> And yeah, the films have to be in decent shape or they DO look crummy on hi-def media. Heck,...

Re: The Simpsons

Lemme put it as simply as I can to you guys -- this should be my main point.. I don't like it when companies force changes the consumers didn't ask for or didn't want... Innovate, yes, but to end product support when plenty of people STILL use something and it's still making a company good money is ...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies

I'll get off my little rant here... I'm starting to annoy me! I think I'll retire commentary on the newer DC animated films until I actually see a new that I like again. That might be a while if the trend of the last two years continues. I hope not! I did re-watch Superman: Brainiac Attacks a ...

Re: The Simpsons

Thank you, Ben! Anyhow, update on the 20th Century Fox situation. Go to the Digital Bits or any decent home video site and they'll confirm this. 20th Century Fox basically wants to stop making 5-inch disc altogether... Yes, that means DVD AND Blu ray! NO MORE new seasons of The Simpsons on disc, PER...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies

Looks like Batman Vs. Robin shares a lot in common with the terrible Son of Batman (which was the last one we got a screener for). You'll be able to see for sure when our review copy turns up soon. :) Unfortunately, the advance review I read said it was NOT very good... It's the same junk like Son ...

Re: The Simpsons

I tend to think the decision to drop DVD releases is VERY short-sighted. This is driven by greed most likely and they are NOT looking at the bigger picture... To a lot of fans who were STILL buying the show on DVD, this is like giving them a BIG MIDDLE FINGER. This is a very, very dumb PR move on Fo...
