MGM logo

Heard some negative comments about the new MGM logo, due to it being a bit much and taking away focus from Leo. But after seeing it, I really like it. I'm going to link to it rather than embed it since the video here would be lower resolution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLR9-ymUvjE They've also...

Re: Space Jam 2

Even this week when Speedy was getting mentioned as possibly being cancelled, Mexicans on Twitter were up in arms! Sad that the studio would worry about what Hollywood thinks they would be offended by rather than asking them themselves.

I’ve occasionally added mild spoilers when necessary. But I always add a warning before doing so.

Re: Disney's Raya And The Last Dragon

Oh. Like many, my hopes weren’t high (it sounds like now you can see what I meant by the anachronistic dialogue), but when the reviews came in I must admit that my interest grew, again like many, even if I still couldn’t see the "amazing animation" that others were pointing to. Sounds like those "h...

Re: Disney's Raya And The Last Dragon

...As for the modern speech, I know that Disney did it in their previous films as well but they were much more light-hearted and had a much more comedic tone, but with Raya it was just jarring. If they decided to do this serious worldbuilding, then the speech needs to be treated more seriously. Jar...

Sponge on the Run

Review for the third SpongeBob movie, Sponge on the Run, is now up. https://animatedviews.com/2021/the-spongebob-movie-sponge-on-the-run/ Based on the fact that there wasn't already a thread up for this after it's long production and COVID delays, I'm guessing that says something about the excitemen...

Re: Six Dr. Seuss Books To No Longer Be Printed!

I think we can all agree that the Seuss Family Trust should next look at censoring/banning the live action Cat in the Hat and animated Lorax movies!

Re: Six Dr. Seuss Books To No Longer Be Printed!

I’m at a volleyball game right now. During a timeout I found 6 articles from 2020 discussing what should be done about racist Dr Seuss books. After all that publicity the past year, the publisher caved. The publishers didn’t do this for their personal peace of mind or out of the goodness of their he...

Re: Six Dr. Seuss Books To No Longer Be Printed!

Let’s try it this way. If a group of people loudly complained about To Kill a Mockingbird due to racist content and the publisher agreed to pull the novel from circulation, would that really be a “humdrum” event? Would people really be arguing that this was ok because it wasn’t technically banned? I...

Re: Six Dr. Seuss Books To No Longer Be Printed!

Whenever some religious nutjob tries to have Huck Finn or Of Mice and Men pulled, we rightly don't argue over the semantics of what banned and censorship mean in the technical sense and how this is all OK because it's not actually the government doing the dirty work. We admit there might be issues w...

Re: Disney's Raya And The Last Dragon

Two to three tickets to the theatre can cost $30, and at home you can watch if as much as you want for that much. So I think it’s a pretty good deal especially for families with kids.
