Re: Cartoon Opening Chain

Judging by the trend, this thread gets resurrected around the same time each year. :P Yeah, I guess it's that time again. droo's last post reminded me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IUT820fpO0&feature=related Loved this show when I was young. I know it was just another Scooby-Doo c...

Re: The Secret World of Arrietty

Ah, good news! I can't wait to own Whisper of the Heart on blu. Such a beautiful film. ^___^ I really enjoyed Arietty . Not the best from the studio, but a sweet and solid little film. The only issue I had was that it ended rather abruptly. EDIT: Oh yeah, then there was also that god awful pop song ...

Re: John Carter of Mars

Good book to read about this sort of thing -- "Adventures in the Screen Trade" by William Goldman. If one of the best-known screenwriters in the last 40+ years can't teach you a bit about the reality of the movie business, then I don't know what school course or other book will. Fascinating read. T...

Re: The Secret World of Arrietty

I saw Beauty & the Beast today, and finally saw the trailer for this. Perhaps it was just the way that the trailer was cut, but the voices seemed very..... I dunno.... off?? :? Or it could've just been that the dialogue was too bland. I really hope this doesn't mean that they've dumbed it down for t...

I know how you feel. I had the same reaction when I saw it. I found the entire trailer to be quite unfunny. :|

Re: Scariest Disney moment?

Night On Bald Mountain always scared me as a little kid. Particularly the part with Lucifer rising. I really enjoyed the sequence as a whole, but I often had to fast forward through that part, or leave the room. :P

P.S. -- More people would be dismissive of CGI had the first few Pixar films been more like the cheap direct-to-video CGI features generally are. We'd be saying many of the same things about CGI all the time that are being said about Mo-Cap. It's not the tool, it's how well it's implemented... Good...

Re:

Saw it last night, and I really enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting it to be amazing, just some light-hearted Dreamworks fun (which it totally was, with the added bonus of minimal pop-culture refs, and NO potty humor!). It's about time we got a good talking cat film. We really need more of those. ^___^ M...
