Re: Disney's Encanto!

Is it me, or is the Disney logo larger than usual. It's kind of swamping the actual title on that poster. Still getting a very My Peoples vibe from this. I like the Madrigal = Magical thing, but "Disney Presents A New Movie" is the lamest trailer card in a long while. "Oh, look, we made another film...

Re: YouTube Goodness

But this does explain why they don’t get Shakespeare right. It’s been translated and back again, losing something… ;) And there’s plenty more in STVI that threatens turning it full camp — like Scotty's whole performance, which is verging on parody by this point, though he does reign it back in from ...

Re: Space Jam 2

Kinda obvious points in that review! Yes, Dan, the animation in the Matrix clip (wait, we're still doing Matrix pastiches? Or is it to remind and prime us for Matrix 4…ahh, Warners synergy) looks much better, I think mostly down to the shadows, which look much more "analogue" than the too clean digi...

Re: The Twilight Zone

That was cool.

Although Miller obviously did a great job, I’d have loved it if Donner had been able to come back, as a bona fide big movie director, and had the chance to do his own new take on his segment.

Success is not just measured in box-office takings, as Mad also attested.

"Guess…who's coming to dinner…?"

"Captain Sulu, USS ExcElsiOr!" (that one got a massive cheer!)

…and, of course… "FIRE!"

All topped off with a Shakespeare-spewing villain and those cast signature credits that get me every time!

Re: Space Jam 2

Urgh! CGI Gremlins! Still cheap-lookin' tradigital animation!

What a hodgepodge of styles. That said, this’ll be one of the most freeze-framed movies ever!

Re: Illumination and Nintendo Team up for Animated Mario Movie!

Pretty good though.

I wonder why this was developed under Illumination and not DreamWorks? Chris Meledandri's edict was that Illumination would only produce their own in-house properties, but that the "new" DWA would take on some "brands"…
