I looked through Kidd's Shazam book last night at the bookstore. I almost snapped it up, too, but I have to pace my purchases in the wake on buying the Taschen DC book. ;) (BTW, the book has shipped earlier than expected and I'll have it in a few days.) It's Kidd's usual overly busy design, but ther...

I've passed on Atomic Knights until now. That armor just looked goofy to me, though I love anything by Anderson. Maybe I'll have to check it out. I've got the Mystery in Space book that came out a while ago, reprinting DC's sci-fi stories (Adam Strange, Space Cabbie, etc.). That's a fun read. It loo...

Our screeners are always the actual retail versions, and Shazam was sent with no slipcover, so you're likely right about the Wal*Mart exclusive. I'm betting the slipcover makes mention of the Digital Copy, but that it is missing on the actual BD cover, if it's the same as the wider retail cover. No ...

Reading that article, it's ironic that the next Narnia film, which Dis passed on, is tracking much stronger.

Yes, the Taschen book is pricey, but imagine what it'll cost in a year or two as a collectible! If nothing else, it should be a good investment. ;) I thought the Daniels DC book from over 10 years ago was very good, and I still enjoy paging through it, but this monster book by Levitz looks to be muc...

Paul Levitz is pictured here with his rather huge new DC history book from Taschen (it weighs the equivalent of 128 comics!). Reviews on Amazon are quite positive, too.

Considering the potentially limited print run, I've just ordered a copy!

Well, at least at 84 he had a long and productive life. Leslie was actually born just a half hour away from where I was born (and many decades earlier), and is seen as a local boy done good. I have a Forbidden Planet poster on my wall, where Leslie actually looks just like me... at least enough that...

Adam West. Ed McMahon. Capes. Ghetto Man. Ruth Buzzi. A gypsy gal with 5 o'clock shadow. C'mon. Admit that you're curious to read this review!

Watching the 1973 cartoon show got my interested in seeing the 1960s live action show again. I think I'll have to Netflix it on my PS3.

<r>Re: "Why not ALL bully victims?"...

To me, it's like criticizing the Jerry Lewis telethon for not addressing all neuromuscular disorders and focusing instead on muscular dystrophy.

That's a specific message here, targeted at a specific group. I can't see anything wrong with ...

Methinks you're missing the point of the film. It's not an anti-bullying spot. And it's not a "feel sorry for me" spot. It's an anti-suicide spot. Big difference, there. The fact is, many kids go through severe emotional trauma over this issue (and yes, other issues as well). And they contemplate su...

"It Gets Better" is its own project, not a Pixar initiative. They're only contributing to it. http://www.itgetsbetter.org/ Regardless, I think it's clear that the message can apply to anyone in similar circumstances of being dissatisfied with life. But targeting a certain group does make the message...
