Re:

b]EricJ[/b], what Lilo wars? Oh, you remember, back when we were all getting ready to kick Eisner out on his hinder and canonize Roy Disney as a saint? And part of that frustration boiling to a head was that we said "No more icky normal Disney films!...We want them all like Lilo & Stitch, for the n...

Re:

I've gotta admit that I haven't seen a Disney brand animated film in theaters since Lilo & Stitch. Sooo...you've missed "Treasure Planet", "Home on the Range" (just watch it, smartaleck, or do we have to bring out the $20 bets?), "Meet the Robinsons", "Bolt" and "Princess & the Frog", then, or just...

Re:

Not to criticize the message, but I think it could have been more powerful if it was (ironically) more inclusive. How about the geeks, for example, that get bullied in school? That was a point brought up on the TAG Blog, and pretty well shows where the discussions keep heading: It Gets Better(tm) w...

Ah, so Bud Luckey is the one voicing Eeyore, (the correct way to spell our gloomy donkey! ;)) Replacing the old video-era Eeyore voice, Peter Cullen, ie.....Optimus Prime? (Why did I never recognize that basement-bass voice before? That's okayyy, Autobots, no one ever notices our mission an...

Re:

Pretty Woman as fairytale. Discuss. (Okay--"Corporate fraud". It's cutesy 80's George Bernard Shaw rewrite through and through, right down to the original deleted script ending--Until Disney gets their acquisition hands on it, and all of a sudden "Cinderella" starts popping up in the next dialogue ...

Re: Sym-Bionic Titan

There is, of course, a healthy dose of 'originality' stirred into the mix, as well. But it is evident that most of S-BT 's creative staff are huge fans of vintage anime, giant robots & monsters, and sci-fi in general .. and that they seem to be having a blast making this show, which celebrates the ...

Re: Sym-Bionic Titan

I also love the many little 'easter-egg' anime/movie references peppered throughout the series. Cameos from the Yamato's wave-motion gun, Gatchaman 's Dr. Nambu, and even the bank-robber/terrorists from Die Hard just make watching the show that much more fun. :) I'd caught part of SBT knowing it wa...

EricJ , what was the fairy tale that wasn't Tangled and wasn't The Princess and the Frog?. (Think back--What Disney classics have we had since "Aladdin"?: "Well, there was Lion King, with the animals in...Africa... Oh, and there was Pocahontas, she was a...real-life figure, but Mulan, she was...sup...

Re:

Three: So Disney announces they still want to make fairy tales. Good. But they changed the name of their current fairy tale and are trying to make it seem like it's not the original fairy tale. WTF. And two other observations from the TAG: 1) "Boy, good thing Disney 'isn't doing anymore fairytales'...

and also wonder myself what the "Woody rescues Buzz from Tokyo" storyline might've been like. Can't remember where I saw the full synopsis online, but short answer: A DISASTER. Woody and the gang stowaway to Tokyo(/Taiwan?), where he's aided by a sexy collectors' action-figure (instead of J...

Re:

Well, if you'd linked the article, we'd know for sure-- But, again, sounds like the LA Times wanted a fear-on-demand tie-in story of "Will Tangled do as badly as Frog did at this same time last year?" on pure speculation, noticed the current shaky-transition drought of unannounced WDFA projects, put...

Although keep in mind, at the moment "Foreseeable future" is two to three films at best. (And while "Mort" ranks as Book Adaptation, wouldn't exactly call that "no fairytale"...) Unless Disney's made an actual press statement, sounds more like LA Times trying to manufacture the story they wanted to ...

That said, he is the guy who brought us Mermaid, Beauty, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Hunchback, Hercules, and Enchanted! (Haven't heard Home on the Range). (Actually, the Menken music was arguably the best part of Home on the Range: :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg6LBOGdyZ0 http://www.youtube.com/watc...
