His art has and will continue to define so much of the Disney Parks. If you haven't read his memoir "It's Kind of a Cute Story", I highly recommend it!

It's such a pity that Paul Reubens died. I hope Pee-Wee will enjoy entertaining the souls in heaven for eternity.

"Paging Mr Herman. Paging Mr Herman"…

"Pull my finger! Silent…but…deadly".

RIP, Penguin's pop. So many characters, so many laughs (and we won’t mention the other bits)… Everyone else is Number Two, or lower. ;)

PWP was never a big thing over here, but we knew that. Still can’t believe he got away with it!

Thanks for posting about Artie Schmidt on the front page, Dacey. That had passed me by and I was so sorry to hear it. Us editors don’t really get our due for what we can bring to a film project, and he was someone whose name I not only grew up with but studied his work, especially and obviously his multi-film collaboration with Bob Zemeckis. So many great films with other filmmakers from before and during that period, too. I always knew what we would get would be coherent, exciting and paced well when I saw his name in the credits. My regret is maybe that I didn’t attempt to make contact to say how much I’d enjoyed what he’d done all those years, but what he did certainly did touch my life and understanding of what film editing could — and should — be. RIP.

Matt Perry, RIP. 54 is way too short for anyone. May you have found peace at last.

This was a shock. We all knew of his addictions struggles, but he came clean and was trying to make things better for himself, so one hoped he'd enjoy a long life. We don't know the details of his drowning death yet, but regardless it's very sad. I watched Friends since the premiere night, though I strayed away in the middle seasons for a bit as I got bored with it, before coming back to the show, largely because my wife remained a fan. I wasn't as much in love with the show as she was (she was quite upset last night after hearing about Perry), but no doubt the whole cast was a part of our life. I'm just a year younger than Perry, so those folks may well have been friends with me too, had we lived in the same place. As Ben said, I do at least hope he has found peace.

Arkin's a big loss as he was still aweimg us. Among those that remain a sad surprise when their names pop up are Tom Sizemore, Walter Mirisch, Bert I Gordon, and very sadly Terrence Davies, who won’t mean much to most but was a great figure at championing film, film history and preservation.

RIP all, and thanks for the entertainment and enlightenment.
