Upcoming animated films calendar and date changes
With the launch of our new iPhone app that counts down the days until animated films open, it was a no brainer that we needed to take this opportunity to finally start a website calendar of upcoming films -- a feature we've talked about for years around here!
http://animatedviews.com/calendar
The calendar features the distributor and studio info, release date, a countdown, and (if you click the image) a link to the film's website.
It is U.S. based and right now we're focusing on films getting a wide release only.
You can help us out by using this thread of the forum to post new releases and date changes so we can make sure to keep both this and the iPhone app (which uses the same database) current.

Re: New upcoming animated films calendar
I just want to say how much I love this idea. Usually, I have to search on Wikipedia to find out the upcoming animated releases, so this is really nice and organised.
If I can make a tiny suggestion, how about putting the name of the director as well?

Re: New upcoming animated films calendar
We may eventually expand it to include more information about the films, but as often as dates and titles change keeping up with any other changes as well could be more trouble that it's worth. Definitely a work in progress. So we're open to adding more data. Maybe bringing in a calendar editor whose only job is keeping up with all the changes would be a good idea.

We might need you at some point Estefan!
I don't think Oz TG&P is animated Eric. Dorothy of Oz is though.

Anyone know if they've changed the date for Dorothy of Oz?

It's currently TBA 2013 according to every source I've looked at.

Re: Upcoming animated films calendar thread
They had a date a few months back, because I put it on the calendar. But I haven't been able to find any announcement that it was pushed back. Since both of us came up with TBA now I'll go ahead and remove it from the calendar.
Thanks!
Thanks!

As was posted on the front page, Monsters, Inc. 3-D has been bumped up to December 21st. A bold move to say the least.

But a smart one: For the first time in...how many years?*...Disney finally has a Christmas vacation-week opening all to itself, with no Fox or Sony competition to boot them out of it.
They originally wanted to with Princess & the Frog, but they lost out to Alvin, and we paid the price for both.
(* - Wanted to say "Twelve years", but the rush to put strategically parent-marketable kid films on Christmas Day has only been around since the Treasure Planet mess in '02. The last time Disney opened a movie on Christmas was their nervousness over "Emperor's New Groove", and that was back when you wanted to get rid of a movie by opening it on Christmas so no one would notice..)

Re: Upcoming animated films calendar thread
I've been gone for awhile and now that I'm back am updating the calendar. Any new releases, date moves, or title changes recently?
