Yeah… that's [trimming the runtime of The Wizard of Oz from 102 minutes to 75 minutes] actually a deal breaker. What’s the point in that? Kind of feels like they converted a film, but couldn’t "afford" to do the whole thing.

Ironic if they cut out Over The Rainbow…! ;)
Apparently, it's a 'Las Vegas' thing. Broadway shows which play in Vegas are often trimmed for time, too.

Not only can they squeeze in more shows, per day .. but it minimizes customers' time away from the gambling tables. :P

Yeah, I get the trimming of a show for that location and reasons, which isn’t too unnatural for a "theme park" type version, but the point of this kind of felt like to see "the movie" in a whole new way. And that movie is 102 minutes! Obviously interesting to see how they cut it down and what they loose (is it scene trims, sequences lost?), but you kind of want to see the movie you know, right? And Vegas being a 24/7 town, they could just keep it on a loop or play an extra show morning or late night.

For that cost, as you say, you want to see the whole thing…or just make more of an "attraction"/ride/curio out of it and make it a 20-30 minute "showcase" version. But chopping almost a half-hour out just feels not one thing or another in a way. :)
