I also thought it was Chris Sanders'. It has a very Lilo & Stitch look to it.

 That's because Byron Howard was a character designer on Lilo & Stitch. He was also the lead animator of Cobra Bubbles.

Howard's and Sanders' personal drawing styles are pretty similar. Though, that's partly because -- in addition to their considerable innate talents -- each of them derives inspiration from the likes of Bill Watterson, Walt Kelly, and T.S. Sullivant (to name just a few).

On topic: Torch Tiger looks amazing. Congrats to you, dr.hong, and everyone involved! :)

I'll definitely buy a copy at Comic Con. It's hard to believe that it's happening next weekend :!: .. so near -- and yet, so far away.

Will there be any more copies of Rocket Johnson on sale at the booth? I missed it the first time last year and would like to pick that up along with Torch Tiger.

I was so excited to have the opportunity to purchase Rocket Johnson last year, and very bummed out that this year I will miss Torch Tiger. It looks wonderful.

Can't believe it's been a whole year since we went to this.

Actually, with the exception of a handful of "must-go" events that I would give anything to get into, I'm not really that bummed out at missing a great deal of this.

And, is it me, or is all the Star Wars hype starting to feel more than a little stale?

Nah,

It's not you.

Star Wars has just been going non-stop since 1997 with no breaks and most of it has NOT been good.

Clone Wars has very good production values for a TV CG-animated series but is so juvenilely-written and ultimately boring for most adults. The characters are flat representations of flat representations. In other words, some other people are writing the Prequel Wars characters even worse than Lucas did in the live-action films.

Kids don't know any better and it goes on...

As for the rest of the panels, there's little I'm interested in besides the voice acting panels. Most of it I could live without. This is stuff I can read online or watch video of on YouTube. I seriously see little there that's worth jetting across half a continent for.

It has been kind of a down year for films in general. I guess we'll really see the impact the economy will have on films in a big way next year. Some of what I've been reading about California and the situation in LA in particular is pretty heart-breaking... This is not a nice time for the people on the Coast so I'm going to try to be nicer online and not make as much fun. Who'd have thought I'd be happy to be in the Midwest now?

There are just a couple of panels that I'd love to see (well, three, actually); hardly enough to justify the trip. I do love reading the reports, however--- on sites like Newsarama.

I'll definitely be checking those sites out, too. Not that I don't skim them at least briefly every day!

I have to admit I liked Newarama a bit better before it became so corporate... It just isn't the same after the site got sold. Always happens when the management changes!

ComicsContinuum should have some good stuff, too.

ComicBookResources generally doesn't do as well on the animated stuff, though.

I'd be surprised if there weren't at least a few reports coming from guys going to SDCC on ToonZone, too.

YouTube might be a good place to check out some things, too, but it might be a good idea to keep parental filters in place. Everything I've ever read about SDCC pretty much indicates some of the cosplay is a bit TOO free exposure for the kiddies.

I think I mentioned this before but Mark Hamill's "Comic Book: The Movie" has some good stuff from a past SDCC (2002?) included as extras on the second disc of that DVD set. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361462/

It's really some insightful material and it at least puts faces to a bunch of the people who've done television cartoon voices for Disney, Warner Bros., and Nickelodeon. The voice actor panel highlighted on Disc 2 was hilarious and informative!

Also worth of note (or maybe I'm just too hormonal) --- why is it so many of the women in voice acting are so good-looking? They don't look anywhere near as strung-out, tired, or generally crinkly-looking as most famous "in front of the camera" personalities!
