I’m actually up for this. The first, while not great-great, was an unexpected surprise with some fun bits, and these Disney redos are best when they venture off into their own worlds. We just ran Mistress Of Evil right before the Oscars the other night and found it - campy title aside - to be great fun and really well done, and a pretty perfect and logical conclusion to the first film. The fact with Aladdin that they could go into Ali Baba, Forty Thieves and Sinbad territory is quite exciting...we could be looking at the modern run of Sabu-slash-Harryhausen type mythic adventure films here!

Walt Disney Records wrote:"Speechless," written by Alan Menken and Pasek and Paul and performed by Naomi Scott, from Disney's #Aladdin, has been certified GOLD by The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)! 📀✨
Woo! Such a catchy song that grew on me quick.

Looks like Guy Ritchie is returning. Sure sounded like he wouldn't but there you go.

Well, The Gentlemen didn’t exactly set the London gangland thriller back on fire and he’s missed out on Sherlock 3, so...

Darn shame since the Sherlocks are quite fun and pure Guy Ritchie.

He was offered Sherlock, but then Downey wanted to direct and he dropped out. Then WB said no to Downey directing and for a while it was someone else and now it’s Guy's friend of a friend Dexter Fletcher doing it.

I would have been skeptical about how good a sequel would've been, but I enjoyed Mena, Naomi, and the actor who played Jasmine's friend / servant. I was sort of looking forward to this, more than the TLK prequel or whatever. :/

That's slightly disappointing.

But given the whole Will Smith angle... unsurprising.

Merged a couple of posts from the animated Aladdin thread to here, hence why it looks like Dan posted the link that Gaastra did. All good now.
