Ironic thing about bluth wanting 2D films back on the big screen is his long in the works dragon's lair movie---is going right to netflix! Ouch!
Deadpool himself Ryan Reynolds is voicing dirk. Lego movie guys are helping with the script.

Re: Dragon's Lair Movie!
I’m guessing Reynolds will *be* Dirk the Daring, since this is live-action, an added irony to Bluth finally being able to make a deal for a feature, only for it to *not* be a cartoon...!
It’s funny, also, because I always saw Daphne to be more of a Ralph Bakshi wench. I wonder who can play her — and how they will even handle her! — in a current remake...

Re: Dragon's Lair Movie!
In the Dragon's Lair comic books published by Arcana in the mid-2000s (on which Bluth was a story consultant), Princess Daphne is introduced as a smart, capable woman .. and practically Dirk's equal, at swordplay. She wears modest -- rather drab -- medieval-era garb.
After her capture, it is Singe who dresses Daphne in that 'borderline-lingerie' outfit .. and she continues to forcefully resist, until placed in the bubble cell. It turns out the bubble cell magically saps the prisoner's will (and a few IQ points along with it); Daphne's breathy 'Marilyn-esque' dialogue only begins after this point. Singe is shown to have a harem of other princesses to whom he's also done this.
. .
In Arcana's contemporary Space Ace comic books, Kimberly received a similar retcon treatment; turns out, she's a genius with a PhD. I don't recall an explanation for her 'mini-skirt & go-go boots' outfit, though.
