Oprah has joined the cast of The Princess and the Frog, according to the MTV Movies Blog.

Er... Why beyond the fact that she's Oprah? She doesn't have a particularly unique voice or anything. Course I feel the same way anytime Angelina Jolie is cast in anything animated.

Ophra? I just hope that she won't steal all the attention.

I'm not a big fan of opera. And I don't care much about Oprah either.

Opera is a new route for Newman. Wonder if he can pull it off. Casting Oprah is just a marketing ploy, it seems:

I'm not a very big fan of Oprah but don't like hate her, but it's obvious why Angela got the boot and replaced by Oprah:

Look under "Today's Picks" - third article down: "Oprah to voice Disney film".

They cast her and a day later it's a top headline. Essentially, it's free marketing for the film. Think if Basset still had the role that there'd ever be an article devoted to her? No.

Again, nothing personal against Oprah just pointing out why they did it.

I'm sure Newman could pull some opera off...if he was working on any.

I hope he can pull off the broadway numbers for PatF. I know little about him, but I was slightly discontented to hear Menken/Slater wouldn't be working on PatF OR Rapunzel. It felt strange because Lasseter talks of trying to bring about a second renaissance and not having Menken involved seemed like a detriment to that.

But people sappear to be responding positively to Newman's PatF songs.

Does anyone else besides me expect a swap between release dates with The Princess and The Frog and A Christmas Carol? With James Cameron's Avatar coming out only a few days before Princess, it would definitly be more reasonable to release a film that would offer better competion. Besides, wouldn't it be more logical to release a christmas carol in december anyway?
