For Your Consideration is up:

Probably won't happen, but I really really hope Elton John's is chosen. Not his best, although when compared to "Spirit" it's a masterpiece! Seriously, I hated that song. Felt so tacked on. Ruined the moment. Ugh.

....And this is exactly what I was just commenting about in the Aladdin thread.

Like this film has a shot at many of those categories, other than visual effects. Interesting that it’s Adapted Screenplay, though...at least they’re being realistic about that!

“Seth Rogen for Best Supporting Actor”. Never thought I’d read those words...
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Beyoncé won the People's Choice Award for Animated Movie Star of 2019. So undeserved.

Why, Bill, I never realized you were such a coffee fan!

Although HT's joke about nature not really giving realistic non-cartoon animal faces the ability to emote or act sounds like that John Cleese joke from a BBC documentary on faces:
"Ever wonder why there aren't more crocodile soap operas? That's probably because, unlike humans, crocodiles only have the muscles to create only one facial expression, which is three less than Michael Palin."

So...

The Lion King remake doesn’t completely suck.

But...

It's so frustrating and odd in not being its own thing. The smallest throwaway moments from the original got stretched out to overlong sequences, while the big emotional moments were all truncated.

The signing was the worst we'd heard in a Disney film since the Beauty And The Beast remake. What the heck!?

Can You Feel The Love This Afternoon should have taken place at magic hour. I get that they may not have wanted to go full midnight blue because of Rafiki's upcoming scene, but it should have had a golden twilight glow. It just looked like daylight.

Biggest mistakes were keeping James Earl Jones, who have weakened, older line readings and only occasionally nailed Mufasa, and getting Zimmer back for the score. Had he provided NEW music it wouldn’t have been bad, but since he only copied and stretched oit what he’d done before, we just keep being reminded that there's a better, more economical and emotional version of this film out there.

Visually, of course it is amazing, especially Rafiki for me, but it’s an odd experiment in largely simply re-rendering what had been planned and produced before. Had it been more of its own thing, even with a plot twist or two, then it could have worked, but almost all the line readings of dialogue from the original fell flat and all that was left, really, are the astonishingly real graphics.

It’s not "bad", and certainly not as awful as feared, but it’s a very odd beast.

Making Zazu a betrayer would've been a great plot twist.
