So, about the Oscars...

What a shame Tangled didn't get that: I hadn't really heard the others songs, but I See The Light was easily the best one in that mix. Nice for Newman, but it seems like they're trying to make up for not awarding him multiple times in the past. I thought he did deserve it more for his Toy Story 3 song than for Monsters, though, but neither song really beat anything in Tangled in terms of not being anything off the Newman conveyor belt (great as he can be).

It did suck that Tangled didn't get it (though I didn't expect it to). BUT, I LOOOOVED that Mandy Moore sang it on stage WITH Zachari Levi, WITH Alan Menkin on the piano. How freaking amazing was THAT

At least we can all agree "I See the Light" was better than "We Belong Together". Though either of the two other songs winning wouldn't have bothered me nearly as much.

I still think Tangled should have also at least been nominated for Best Animated Feature, and heck, replace Toy Story 3 as the animated Best Picture nomination.

Is that a far off wind I hear rustling? And a distant bell ringing soullessly?

Is that the sound of being mean to someone who just has differing views and speaks their mind?

(No, no, the soulless bell was for Carl's Bolt threads--
Yours are those dried tumbleweeds over there, the ones that are blowing around over by those crickets chirping on that dead horse.) :)

Oh, now this is getting too rich. We now have Eric, Dusty, George, and Carl all vying for the position of top crank.

;)

I love all you guys, though. Really. :)

And don't look so offended, George, for being lumped in there. ;) You know we love ya!

I don't care for popcorn, actually. But, hand me a bowl of M&Ms, and I'm there! :)

M & M's! Even better!

Pardon me while I shake my jowls...

Been wanting to do that for a while...

Peanut, Pretzel, or plain M & M's? Or do you want the M & M's in Easter shells?

Either plain or peanut butter, please. But if you get the peanut butter ones, I prefer them refrigerated first.

And now, back to our show...

I'm in the camp that thought I See The Light should be winning the Oscar BEFORE the ceremony. After seeing the 4 songs performed I really wanted it to win. It was easily the only song that when performed outside of the movie, still helped tell the story of some part of the film. It was very telling that I See The Light was the only nominee that didn't rely on random scenes from the movie to support the performance (I'll admit I'm hazy on Country Strong's presentation). All Mandy and Zach got were the pretty lanterns, which showed, for me anyway, that this was the best original song out of them all. That it really wasn't a song that could be swapped for any random movie.

We Belong Together is an enjoyable song, but it could play over the credits of ANY Pixar movie.
