The hypothesis was that Toy Story 3 is overrated. This far it looks like many of you are ready to agree with that.
I'll hand it to you. You're keeping your cool in the face of all the teasing. Good on ya!

And yeah, I think most of us agree. I loved TS3, but wouldn't have minded Dragon winning the Oscar.

Where did that come from!? Noooooooo...the right thing was, ultimately, done.

As for TS3 at the Oscars, I'd have dearly loved for Tangled to not only be nominated but take home the golden guy as well, but of the three films in the running I'd probably agree with Rand that Dragon would have been a worthy winner (in Tangled's absence!).

I've said before that I felt Tangled was a more solidly-entertaining movie, overall (IMO), than Toy Story 3 .. and it's a shame that it wasn't nominated for BAF.

Though -- if it had been, and it had won -- I'm not so sure this thread mightn't have been titled:

"Am I the only one who didn't like Tangled?"

I do not think Toy Story 3 was overrated at all. That being said, I wouldn't have complained either if Dragon had won the Oscar. They were both great solid films. The real shame was Tangled not being nominated for that category.

Yeah, you are holding the banhammer. ;)

How to Train your Dragon is a puzzling case.

The movie is really good, practically perfect, save the ending. The ending felt almost predictable and cheesy.

Okay. That did it. You are now officially crazy in my book. ;)

Ugh yeah I'm so sick of these animated movies where the main character loses a limb, how about we rock the boat a little Dreamworks??

If we are to analyze the last scenes on a deeper level, overlooking the detail that he lost his leg, the scenes are indeed both cheesy and predictable. The entire boss fight scenario, in which the protagonist defeats the monster and nearly dies in the process, makes for a rather bland climax in an otherwise flawless movie. Basically, because we’ve seen this formula so many times before.

Let’s take a look at the actual dialogs.

Toothless dad decides to stay behind to distract the monstrous dragon, saying “I can buy them a few minutes. I give that thing someone to hunt!”
Whereupon his loyal Gobber replies -“Then I can double that time.”

The action, the cliché dialogs… no the ending just didn’t do it for me.

Phew...I haven't been online in like a week and my heart sank when I saw a new post had been made to this thread: I was "Oh, man, that thing is still going!?"... ;)

Yeah, I just find it ironic that it has been suggested that this thread should be moved to either the Bolt thread or Pixar thread, following this site's tradition of having on thread per movie. Both of these threads have been practically abandoned for weeks. I think that I'm the last poster in both the TS3 thread and the Bolt thread.
