I'd worry about a live-action movie. It would have to be such a high special effects movie that I don't think Warner would pay that much attention to the story. I'm skeptical, but it's a fun property to play with. If they ever do it, I hope they succeed in making a good one.

I'm usually the first to ridicule the notion of animation-to-live action crossovers, but.............

For some reason a glorious TECHNOCOLOR vision peeked around the corner of consciousness featuring an oh-so-stylish "retrofuturism" combining the sprawl of Sky Captain, the antics of Speed Racer, a squeaky clean Fifth Element commercialism, and all the franchise flavor of Fruity Pebbles. I guess it boils down to all important casting decisions, but it seems like this might actually fit some hole on the green screen scene. (Of course, the ominous part of this vision lies in the fact Rosie entered along with Frans Drescher... er, maybe she could hold back a squeak or two? *doom and gloom*)

Steve Martin's mention in this thread adds several more nails in the coffin. Poor man.

Here's the cover art for Jetsons: The Movie:

Not great, but good, looks a tad bit like the posters. It's also been rumored that this might see a Blu release! Not day and date with the DVD, but later on in the year maybe. That would be cool and fitting - Jetsons was always ahead of its time, now it will keep the position as being the first HB cartoon to hit HD.

The cover art's okay, but the original poster image would have been better. Still, I'm glad to see it on dvd at all cause I thought it never would be.

Unless the original recording of Janet Waldo have survived and are reinserted, same for me. Like the story well enough, but no real need to own it.

I don’t think I’ve seen it since being traumatised in the cinema in, what was it, about 1987? I try and catch bits on TV, but I just remember it being not The Jetsons I knew from the original series.

I've never see it, but would like to. And it sounds like it's getting some nice bonus features. From a FB post:
Lee Gambin: Such an honor to work on this release! I did the audio commentary and it's so incredibly amazing that for someone - like so many of us - who grew up on Hanna-Barbera cartoons and is in love with them, got to work on a HB related title...well, it's a true delight. My commentary track is loaded with production history, critical analysis and above all, loaded with heart and tribute to iconic characters George, Jane, Judy, Elroy, Astro, Rosie, Spacely and the legends involved with the history of THE JETSONS. On top of that, I interviewed voice actor Jeff Bergman, and the interview is an hour long and yes, he thanks me in George Jetson's voice (which made me cry). Bergman came on board for the film after the sad passing of George O'Hanlon and Mel Blanc to do the remainder of the George and Spacely tracks. There is a lot in both my commentary and the interview, so I truly hope all you cartoon fans love it.

Well that just sounds like it may be a bit too fawning and fan-enthusiastic. Nice that it’s getting some attention, but I just get the vibe that these may be more "eager" than actually informative or even accessible extras. You don’t need this one Rand! ;)

I've seen it, and it's....definitely 80's-canon. Can't recall, was this pre or post-Orbitty?
Tiffany does, however, make a serviceable Judy Jetson, 80's music video aside.

(And likely only exists because rights on the last mythical Live-Action Jetsons had run out, and Universal, who still had H-B at the time, needed to make something.)

Jetsons: The Movie was 'post-Orbitty'; however, Orbitty does not appear in the film.

I enjoy the movie well enough, for what it is .. though (IMO), the stunt recasting of Judy Jetson was unnecessary, and hurts the viewing experience as a big-screen 'swan song' adventure for the long-running TV show.

At least Janet Waldo went out on a 'high note' for her character in the DTV Rockin' with Judy Jetson, a few years prior. :)

The score for Jetsons: The Movie -- composed by John Debney -- is rather fun, too .. big & brassy for the opening and action bits, slightly-lusher variations on Hoyt Curtin's TV underscores for the rest.

It's interesting that the forthcoming Blu-ray is to be released by Kino Lorber .. rather than Universal, WBHV or WA. :o

I have the prior DVD (mentioned upthread), so I don't 'need' it .. but I'll probably buy it, anyway.

Kino have a Uni deal, Droo. They have a bunch of 80s Uni titles coming along the line: the Michael J Fox vehicle The Secret Of My Success is also coming along, in October!
