Choose your ending for the new Yamato movie!

Japanese preview audiences will be able to choose which one of the two endings they prefer for the new Space Battleship Yamato feature film being released soon.

The chosen ending will be the one used for all feature screenings of the new movie.

No hint necessary as to what one of the extras for the eventual Japanese home video release will be!

********

As of yet, no announced licensing for this film outside of Japan. The last two attempts at reviving Yamato were generally considered failures and are available on Japanese home video (and illegal fansubs) only. It will probably be around a year before any Western company releases the new Yamato film outside of Japan -- if the licensor grants those rights.

I know that endings sometimes get changed based on test screenings (my dvd of Joy Ride has no less than four alternate endings, one a half-hour long) but this is the first time I've ever heard of it happening with an animated film. Interesting...

I didn't know that. Should be interesting either way. Back in the 90s, Disney attempted to get a live action Star Blazers movie off the ground, but it fell into development hell and (I assume) died there. Ah well, that's the way it goes.

On second thought, the 2009 SBY movie that the article is about WILL BE animated. I was only aware of the live-action SBY movie of next year.
