Is it the State Farm commercial?

Lightning sounds weird in that one...Same with the 20 Years of Pixar thing. At one point Lightning starts to talk/narrate, and it’s awful. It sounds like Owen, except that he's got a frog up his nose or something.

Haha!

There's also that commercial where Lightning and Sally are driving along and keep passing billboards with cars on them. Why do I keep thinking it's for Hertz...

I haven't seen that one. What stations does it usually play on?

I think so. I know Sally wasn't in it.

I don't think it's Owen. In my opinion, he has a very recognizable voice and if it was him we'd know it right away. It's very close to his voice, but doesn't cut it.

Maybe Owen just didn't want them to use his voice for commercials, like Robin Williams and the Genie images. ( I guess Disney has learned their lesson.... you know, that whole story where he didn't want them to use the Genie image for ad posters and they did anyway. Plus when they did an animated commercial, they used a sound-alike.)

Very basically clear...

Owen Wilson is a "Big Hollywood Ac-tor" ;) and has no time to do commercials that are not worth his time...

Likewise on the DVDs when they have a narrator...they can't keep getting Owen in to do a "press this button for..." thing.

That's why Hollywood stars shouldn't be doing voice overs. Apart from overbearing a movie's characters, they want too much money. So they get the "soundalikes" in, which rarely actually sound alike!

When it comes to Larry The Cable Guy, well, he's not exactly fighting off offers, is he? So he's cheaper, has more time, and is more inclined. That's why secondary characters in animated movies are often the ones that "come back" for commercials, DVD bonus narration, etc...

For anybody who wants to see that Lightning/Mater commercial, it's currently playing at State Farms' Countdown to Cars website.

Yeah. There was a scene. It's not anything overly huge. Its just a joke.

With that Coutdown to Cars ad you can view a better quality version from Victor Navone (who animated it)

There's usually a joke at the end of a Pixar movie, right?

(And a funny one at Pirates 2's end too!)

You mean you haven't seen it yet? OMGosh! :) It's really cute, although one of the characters says something that might upset a few people. For those of you who HAVE seen it, you know what I'm talking about.

Sometimes it's the theater's fault for cutting away from the credits even before they're over. At work, when we want to start cleaning, they flip the lights on early and stop the film. I've told my co-workers that people like to watch the credits in case something funny follows them, but they don't seem to care.

Meh.

That's bad.

The film has to run through the projector anyway so why cut it?

It's one thing bringing the lights up (I think that's pretty standard all over the place) but they should leave the movie running.

Yeah, most Pixar movies have extra material in their credits. Nemo had that little fish thing swallow the bigger fish if I remember correctly.

I always hang around for the credits. I like hearing the usual suite of score music, and it brings me back to Earth slowly...

Are you talking about the
Boot camp scene?
