I can't imagine going through the tragedy that Snyder and his family went through. For better or worse, I'm glad he is now able to show his vision and dedicate it to his daughter's memory.

So, now there's news of a black Superman being in the next reboot. It's not the first time it's been suggested, but it seems to be more likely now. It's a little bit eye-rolling from the "we're being PC'd to death" standpoint, but if we're losing Henry anyway, then I do like the idea. (I only wish we could have had Henry as a smiling Superman. Just once.) I'm ready for a new take, and it'll certainly differentiate the big screen Supes from the current TV version.

I'd actually say we got a smiling Superman in what will now be known as "Whedon's Justice League"--but then again, I might be in a minority (at least when compared with more vocal fans) when I say that's never been an issue for me.

I'd love more Henry in the role. If we can get Routh to return to the part on television, I'd say we could have more of Henry as Superman. Of course, if the Snyder Cut is received enthusiastically, maybe the chances of more Super Henryl increase (not sure how many people here watched it given it was kind of a bomb, but he was terrific in the extremely fun The Man From U.N.C.L.E. movie from a few years back, and was of course also great as a baddie in the last Mission: Impossible).

I wonder if that cliffhanger will be the same one the theatrical cut ended on...?

So, either someone overdosed on the "We need a black Doctor Who and/or 007!" craze again, or they figured they couldn't go back to Steel after the Shaq movie.

(Besides, I thought Muhammad Ali was already the "black Superman", saying to the other guy, "Catch me if you can".)

Fairly obvious, after we got the black Spidey onscreen a couple of years ago...

No, that was from the actual COMICS, and was one of the six or seven Spidermen that Sony still owned.

Eric is making the point that Miles is a different character. With Superman, it's not known if it will be Clark or someone else, like the "Super President," Calvin Ellis, from the comics.

It is known that it won’t be Clark Kent.

Bottom line is that a studio had a massive success in releasing a film with a black take on a classic superhero. Who is Miles do anyone outside the fanboy collective? No-one. So it doesn’t matter where and why and what, the point is that a studio successfully launched, to all intents and purposes, a "new" take with a "new" character, which is why I made the onscreen distinction. And where a studio has a certain kind of success with one thing, another will follow, as we know. I was making the point that it would be surprising if we *didn't* get a black take on another major super-character, and Superman is the obvious one.

That's why they teamed him up with Peter Parker. Although not THE teenaged Peter Parker who was now working for Tony Stark, but the grownup divorced one from the print comics who hadn't had a MCU movie for that other studio yet.

Now, if 007 wanted to give a spinoff series to Halle Berry as Jynx from "Die Another Day" (which was indirectly how we got the Catwoman movie), or to the black Felix Leiter from "Never Say Never Again", that would be different from completely rewriting the original character into black as a needed Franchise Reboot, "Because REPRESENTATION!"
(A long word that means "Minorities jealous and/or racially paranoid that classic mainstream franchises become popular, and 'theirs' don't.")

Not to mention this is Warner, where carved in eight foot marble and chrome over the CEO's desk are huge letters saying "BLAME THE FRANCHISE".
And that if audiences don't warm to Zack Snyder, or WW1984, or the Zack Snyder Cut That Only Angry Persecution-Complexed DC Fans Asked For, it's obviously because the audience hates DC, and must therefore be "fixed" within an inch of its life to make it audience-palatable enough to ever show its face in public again.

We're just lucky there already is a Supergirl, as that would be their next idea. And fortunately, we've also got a black Green Lantern.

Peter Parker in the Spidey-Verse movie is apparently Tobey Maguire grown up. They even toyed with him doing the voice.

Catwoman was already being made at Warners long before Jinx fell through.

How is Felix being black in NSNA different to Felix being black in (the new) Casino Royale et al...? Same thing.

Supergirl is going to appear in the Flash movie. And it’s not Melissa Benoist.

If one person is done being wrong, here's a new clip. Looks to be the credits:

Summary of the IGN panel:
Fans wanted him to release his version of the film so that was the feedback he took from us.
The 214 version is essentially the same movie to what we got now. Different angles, finished effects and so on are some of the reason why the film is longer now. [And 4 to 5 new minutes.]
He is fully satisfied with the current cut.
An episodic release was too complicated to do so he gave up on that but a movie cut at the end of it all was always the end goal.
TSC is 100% done.
He is most excited for fans to see the Cyborg scenes.
None of TSC is informed by the films that came after 2017. TSC is its own thing and what Snyder always intended.
Snyder´s Batman started with a moral compass but fell apart over the years and deaths. The death of Superman is what releases all that cynicism. His catharsis.
Snyder´s WW is also in a place where she lost faith and will pull herself together in this film.
Henry himself came on. Swanwick is the alter ego of MM. There are no “2 Swanwicks”. He manipulates people to be better.
He thinks that Cyborg has more stories to tell. “Who knows” what could happen in the future.
Joker was always meant to be a Knightmare survivor.
The next film would primarily be set in the Knightmare. [Argh WB, what did you take from us?] He calls it a “Knightmare Movie”.
TSC only hints at the 2 sequels. The new art piece also has clues.
The film ends on a massive cliffhanger.
Batman and Slade are partners in the Knightmare. They have a bigger enemy to fight.
Something happened with Darkseid and Steppie in the past. There are issues.
Zack would be happy to cross that bridge if HBO offered him money for more. Not expecting it though. [He essentially says he would do ZSJL 2, he was never this clear about this in an official “press release”. Only on Vero and like 2 fan streams.]
The opened Kryptonian pod in the scout ship will be seen in TSC but not talked about.
The Knightmare footage length is minimal but appropriate. It does what it needs to do.
His preferred version is the B&W Imax version. Calls it the highest fetishistic level of the movie. An “impossible movie”. It releases after TSC. No idea when.
Imax release coming. Both color and B&W. Covid makes it impossible now.
Imax cameras would have been too loud to be used for this film. It’s too dialogue heavy.
He shot it in 1.33. 1.66 would have been the 2017 compromise.
Wants to have a Blu Ray release of the film but can´t announce anything.
Army is fully non-canon to DotD. A fun deconstruction of the genre.
Snyder couldn´t have asked for more from fans. His message to us.
