Short I can totally see, but absolutely everything we know about Mrs Potts screams Shania freakin' Twain, don't it?

(And, yes Dan, you beat me to it!) ;)

Too bad at the end when they all transform back she can't say "Man! I feel like a woman!" ;)

Nah, doubt they'll have such liberties. Mermaid didn't. It would be like if Queen Latifah said "or you can stay a mermaid and continue Living Single" or John Stamos saying "Have mercy!". Fun inside jokes but would totally be out of place. Quote me if I'm wrong. ;)

But those weren’t international minor phenomena that hit the zeitgeist and still have something of a pop-culture reference like that song has. I really wouldn’t be surprised if something like that was seen as being "got" by a wider audience, knowing who she is. Kind of saddened, but not surprised. We shall but wait and see… ;)

Ah, that's true enough. Well, she can easily sneak in "Let's go girls dishes!"

I’ll see it, or whizz through it, but I’m really not excited or looking forward to this much at all, mainly just to see what they use from the film and how they stage it. Ho-hum.

My curiosity level is also low for this. I have viewed the Disney original multiple times (in the theatre, on VHS, LaserDisc, DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray); plus the Work in Progress on LD; I saw the Disney World half-hour version many times (the doves released at the end was a nice touch), a local theatrical production, and the misbegotten film remake already. I don't feel I need another version, especially when the animated original is already wonderful.

I'm still pretty pumped all things considered. I would love if they do "Human Again". I'm also hoping they do a tribute to Angela Lansbury.

It will be interesting to see if they decide to slip in Evermore from the movie I dare not speak it's name since Josh sang the end credits version.

But overall I have no interest when I can just stick to the original which I never tire of.

I'd watch even if it was awful, DVR means I can skip quickly through and it's just one night. That said, Shania singing the theme song is just... Whew. I like Shania, too, but that's not the role for her, and that's not even getting into the fact that her voice these days is a pale imitation of what it was (and she never had a great or "timeless" voice like Angela Lansbury in the original or Audra McDonald in the re-make). I do sort of like the costume they gave her though...

I'm glad Belle will be in a dress after all. She looks great in the pink dress in particular. Josh Groban so far looks to be the best thing about this for me, love him.
