It’s actually really unfair to the people who made it. The film was apparently finished.

Yes, principal photography was finished. Very unusual. The only real thing that can cancel production is an absolute critical actor being injured or killed and most of the time even that won't stop it.

Ah. And the sequel was the Christmas title! I was under the impression they were two separate projects, hence my contradicting post. That really is unfair.
