Hmmmm. Kind of think the talk of Hook’s identity might count as a “hard spoiler,” Ben. My own fault for reading this before I watch the film, but might want to tag that part anyway.

Not that we EXPECTED Disney's Woke-LA division to remember Barrie's own book/play explanation that "girls are too smart to be lost in the first place".as basically one of the Lost Boys (which aren’t all boys, "not that it matters", so that explains that)
And think you repeatedly nailed one of the problems:
When the bleak, morose, and utterly UN-kiddified Neverland of "Hook" can give us a better Hook, Tink and musical score in general, that doesn't bode well.
