I'll give it a try, and it does have Ghibli touches, but.... it makes me a little sad to see this. With CGI, they can't compete with the US studios. Regretfully, it just looks cheap.
The stills were one thing, seeing it in motion is another. Doesn't really gel with their earlier work. Missing that magic nostalgic spark. Looks rough, unfinished and yeah, cheap. That aside, the story looks interesting and I really like the song.
You know what I've just realised from watching that trailer, is that hand drawn hair should not just be replicated in CGI form. A lot of the hairstyle on display look like hard plastic wigs. If it was hand drawn it would look natural, but run it through the computer and it looks like a lot of hair gel was needed to keep it up and off the face, shoulders, head etc. It's quite distracting cause all I want to do is push the hair down.
Indeed, the hair is the worst part, as it always is with cheaper/less advanced CGI. It looks terrible, and moves as a single chunk.
And that's why it was brilliant making toys the subject of the first CGI film. Until you master the form and improve your rendering, everything looks like toys. Ghibli overstepped themselves with this one.
