On the other hand, while American reviews generally seem to love it, top papers in Canada and the UK (perhaps more discerning?) didn't care for it, and it sounds like a lot of familiar ground is covered. Which is typical these days. Anyone wanting truly original animated features needs to focus on films from Asia and Europe.
Probably because people from other countries don't bother themselves with what's woke or diversity or whatever's the new trend on twitter. Reading the US reviewers, seems like they're focused on that and the message and not whether the movie has a good and entertaining plot and characters.

Personally I find the reviews to be more lukewarm than outstanding, so I'm expecting this film to be just like Howard's other films, Tangled and Zootopia, fun, enjoyable but in the end unremarkable.

Tangled is unremarkable…!?

It’s a lot better than Frozen! :)

Soundtrack is out. Featurette on the music:

Some very nice visuals, especially Isabella's song. Kinda iffy on the songs that were sampled.

Park representation already in place, for those that have actually seen it:

(I feel for Disney park performers that have to play the new/obscure characters on movie-opening weekend. I would've posted The Eternals' appearance at DCA's Marvel section, but it's too heartbreaking. :( )

We went to see Encanto on Saturday and loved it! I had heard the soundtrack before watching the movie, and wasn't too impressed, yet now, after seeing the movie, I can't stop listening to it. It is a great movie. I actually want to go back to the movie theater to see it again.

Didn't get to see encanto yet but my sister took her kids and other nephews and nieces plus a friend to have some fun.

They came back upset! Keep in mind they love disney. They said the songs and animation was great but HATED the film! I was shocked. Asked why. They said it was due to--

They said they treated the main girl like trash blaming everything on her even when she did nothing wrong like meg from family guy the full film do to she is the powerless girl.

With that said i still plan to see this film.

I can see that, but I think that made it even better.
That moment of realization where she sees she is never going to be enough comes, and she confronts it, but then, even under that realization, and she still goes and does everything she can to help her family. It was very interesting to see all these characters putting aside everything for the sake of the family.

Hey Kaszubas! :)
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!
