Movie Trailers A love Story?

Post by gaastra » September 28th, 2020, 3:43 pm

That's strange. John campa. (the grouchy guy on youtube) has made a movie. Looks like it's the history of movie trailers in movies.

That came out of nowhere. Can the guy direct? Strange.

What do you guys think of this?

And ironically--decade-shaming 90's Gen-X Janeane Garafolo jokes aside--it wasn't "In a world..." that finally killed off 90's trailer voices and reduced movie taglines to three words long:

Ask most movie historians, and they'll still tell the legend of the theater that had the ill-timed misfortune to show the trailers to "Passenger 57" and "Under Siege" back to back--But there was ONE thing they didn't count on...

I'm not really a fan of trailer reactions. They seem so artificial and forced.

As one person says in that clip, people know that they are filming themselves reacting, so it’s probably more extreme than if you’re just on your own watching on your phone or something. I also just find it sad that we have resorted to filming ourselves watching a reaction to something else. Should we start watching ourselves react to a reaction now? Or a reaction of a reaction of a reaction...to a reaction?

Or maybe Quibi could just charge for us to watch us watching their shows...? ;)

"If you only see one movie this summer, see...Star Wars!"

Anyone remember that? :)

Yes! :). Wasn’t that from a 1999 South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut trailer, referring to the Phantom Menace (during the pre-major disappointment period)?

I liked the romaning the stone trailer tied into the jewel of the nile trailer! The second trailer calls back from the first one.

I never liked watching trailers because they reveal too much info... It's like seeing the highlight of the movie. The last trailer I watched was for The Hobbit movie. I was super hyped for the movie because I am a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies. Seeing that trailer revealed half of the movie, and I stopped watching trailers since.
A lot of LOTR fans are hanging out on thetolkienforum.com. It's a great place where you can learn all the backstories of any character. I have been a member for a long time now, and it's been a place where I really learned everything about books and movies.

Hi, I've been following your community for a while but decided to join and chat with you)) I agree with you that watching the trailer entails the story of the whole movie and sometimes it's not interesting to watch anymore, so I usually read the description and watch just a minute of the trailer, and sometimes less than a minute!!!

Welcome, Caroline!

I often avoìd trailers to avoid spoilers.... except for films I'm unlikely to watch! I like to see the teasers, though, since they generally give you the flavour of a movie without telling the story.
