Limited Fathom Event or full on? I'm thinking the former but you never know.

Closer to catching spirited away!

https://deadline.com/2020/12/monster-hu ... 234651166/
In Japan, Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train is estimated to have added about $6M during the FSS session. That would bring the local total to 28.7B yen ($276M) and leave 2.1B yen between the cultural phenomenon and Japan’s highest-grossing film ever, Spirited Away (30.8B yen), which it should catch before month’s end. Last weekend, it sailed past Titanic to take the No. 2 spot on Japan’s all-time charts. It is already the No. 1 animated title of 2020 worldwide, and internationally, and remains at Nos. 5 and 3 in the overall worldwide and international rankings for the year — based on the Japan cume alone.
Demon Slayer a few weekends ago became IMAX’s biggest movie ever in Japan and has now reached a cume of $18M in the market (adding $655K this weekend for a mere 20% drop). The Toho/Aniplex/Ufotable juggernaut has a total $19.3M in IMAX when including Taiwan and Hong Kong (the latter market’s cinemas were closed again last week amid a coronavirus surge).

Starting today the dub streams on Funimation. Nice if you don't have cable.

It beat spirited away! It's the highest grossing film in japan history during a virus!

To wit: Japan’s Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train has perhaps become the story of the year. A runaway success across this period, and in its 9th weekend, it is now estimated to have crossed $310M worldwide (largely from the home market, but also including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam). The movie is days away from becoming the top-grossing film of all time in Japan, overtaking Hayao Miyazaki’s 2010 Spirited Away. Think about that for a minute: It has taken 19 years to reach this level, and was done so during a pandemic.

A little premature, but I don't doubt it.

Congrats on the 1000th post!

Absolutely insane this is happening when movie theaters are empty here (and that's counting the ones that aren't closed). Guess they must be doing something right in Japan.

Health-masks were socially common among crowded hypochondriac Tokyo city-dwellers during winter-cold season for DECADES before they ever became fashionable over here.
No one ever politicized it, so taking precautions was just another day for them.

True. I was just watching Ultra Q the other night, and noticed that even then (1966) you could spot mask-wearers in the crowd.

Not so fast says spirited away! They rereleased spirited away in japan and it put it back in first by a good number!

Check out this upcoming figure of Tanjiro. Sweet! Need to get that bad boy. Surprisingly I don't own anything already. What with the pandemic haven't had a chance to visit my local Tokyo shops. Man I miss them.
