With 29 reviews, Lightyear has a metascore of 59 on Metacritic, the second lowest rating of all Pixar films and the third yellow after Cars 2 and Cars 3.

Nice take! Seems it’s about what I was expecting, so I’ll probably like it, though you’ve got me worried about Waititi, who’s *just* on the cusp of becoming too over-exposed for me and revealing his one-note schtick, so I hope he doesn’t spoil this.

Also (whisper it): "Josh Brolin (reuniting Captain America and his adversary, Thanos) is a nice choice for Zurg" would be cool, but it’s his dad James who plays Zurg. Easy mistake to make, since a lot of websites also announced Josh when the film was in production, but it’s his dad, which is also still kind of cool, since Zurg is Buzz's father and James is Josh's, so James is now dad to Buzz and Thanos! ;) :)

Yikes! Thanks for that catch. Updated now.

I only watch the first trailer for a movie and then try to not to learn too much about it after that. So didn't know Brolin was in it at all. As the credits scrolled I saw the name Brolin just as it was leaving the screen and just assumed it was Disney co-mingling their Marvel and Star Wars actors again!

No spoilers until after the movie comes out but...
Yeah... about that...

He should be looking up to the actor who played the part since Buzz Lightyear is a fictional character. I made a better version:

For those that missed it: Chris Evans apparently has a "very disciplined pose".

I'm guessing that was a mispost of the Thor review, but don't worry, like James Gunn and the Suicide Squad movie, Waititi won't officially be overexposed and revealing his one-note shtick until after THAT one comes out.

You know what would have been awesome to really make this movie feel like it was a movie Andy watched in 1995? If they had hired Dianne Warren to write an epic end credits love song - tangentially linked to the actual plot- since she seemed to contribute one to every 2nd big blockbuster of the 90s.

Or get them to do a typically 90s ballad version of Plastic Spaceman…!?

I guess the rush Andy's Mom bought his original Buzz in was the one referenced in TS2, when short-sighted store owners didn’t order enough product to meet demand. *Now* we know the "real" reason why! ;)
